CPR class; a smackabout MMP

swampy, I did take a picture, to send to a friend who also has a PA to laugh at with me. You know, if you really do want one.

Gotta run out the door, did some cleaning and now we’re gonna dump off some video games at Gamestop and do… something.

Shadow, I’m sorry for your loss, it sounds like things with your grandmother were tough but it’s good that you were able to make peace a bit there.

I’ve been a bit busy lately so not really been reading or retaining much, but I really should wish a happy birthday! to the mumpers I’ve missed this week.

Last night we went to a wedding reception which was held in a marquee in a field in the middle of nowhere. It was a beautiful setting, the marquee was at the top end of the field looking down into the valley and some quite lovely countryside. Also, we were there before the sun went down so we got to see the sunset and later the most amazing red banding in the sky. Definitely shepherd’s delight!

The reception was fun, there were some people there I’d not seen for a while so it was good to catch up with them, and we had a good time there. The drive home was hard work though, the country lanes are narrow and wind back on themselves a lot so there were lots of sharp bends, and of course not a light in sight. Still, we got home safely and I had a glass of wine or six to recover.

Today has been a garden day. I’ve put some small canes in the tubs of cucumber, tomatoes and runner beans so that the plants have some support. Then I went to my friend’s place to borrow her electric strimmer and we have spent some time cutting down the 6’ high elephant grass in the wildnerness we call a garden. We’ve managed to cut down quite a bit but there are a lot of brambles that we will leave because it’s good for the bumblebee population, and there’s also going to be quite a lot of fruit out there eventually. While I was out, I bought some more compost and called into the supermarket for some extra salad veg and fruit to keep me going.

I have planted out some chilli and pepper plants that I started off from seed, they were ready to go outside last week but I didn’t have time to do anything with them so they had to wait a bit longer. I’ve got a grow-bag outside that has room in it so they are going in there, and I’m keeping a couple to give to my friend, and the real baby from the pot is in a bigger pot on the kitchen windowsill because it’s too small go out outside.

Now I’m having a break, putting some dye on my hair and then it will be cool enough later to go out and water the tubs of veg. Did I mention that it’s hot outside? We are having a mini-heatwave that’s due to last a couple of days so I think we have made pretty good use of some decent weather.

Later I’ll be having a soak in the bath and re-painting my toenails 'cos it’s ‘im indoors’ turn to cook dinner tonight.

Had fun last night helping a couple of friends re-plan their Man Trip in October. It started out as an overnight to watch the Blackhawks/Dallas opener.

It is now: Fly down Thursday, play a round at a TPC course (Redstone?), followed by dinner and drinks. Friday, get to Dallas for the hockey game. Saturday will be the Texas A & M game at Cowboys Stadium, then off to Houston for the Titans/Raiders game on Sunday. Wears me out just thinking about it.

Today’s plan is to the paint store to get paint and stuff for me to paint the powder room tomorrow. Yay.

Morning! Up early as LibbyCat was demanding to be fed and mr ems wasn’t moving. Done bunch laundry and been out for breakfast and now I am going to head to Target and pick up some wrapping paper and a box to mail the present I got for my god-daughter. Then grocery store to get fruit/veggies and cereal for the week. Then I will be lazy.

Tonight is home made burger night. yum!

Enjoy your Sunday!

I haven’t read, (I will!) but I have watered my posie pots and am sitting on the deck amongst my flowers, drinking, my coffee and thinking about y’all. Spring has been cold and damp, but these last few sunny days have made everything begin to pop. This morning I was greeted with one of my Old Roses (Gentle Hermione) all open and smelling like heaven. I have taken photos, but I am consistently torn between Flikr and deadheading! Anyway, happy Sunday all!

I’m done pickling my peck of peppers. For reference, when I stuff the jars, a peck works out to 12 half pints.

I hate peeling that much garlic, too.

Bobbbbiooo, I work in a federal bldg that has a gym so am required to have CPR certification and we do have an AED. Just a few weeks ago a young active duty sailor and his wife came into the bldg and both went into the men’s room leaving the door open. A few seconds later the wife was yelling for help. My office is right across from the men’s room and me and my intern ran over to find her holding him in her arms. He was completely unconcious. We helped to get him to the floor and yelled for my other worker to call 911.

Patient was out. I determined he was breathing. His wife was slapping him in the face hard so intern told her to stop. The wife also was splashing him in the face with cold water. Patient’s legs were under him so we straightened out his legs then he started to have a seizure. All we could do was keep him from banging his head on the tile floor. The seizure only lasted a few seconds. I ran and grabbed by intern’s laptop and sweater to put under his head.

By now the wife had shared that the patient had just had four wisdom teeth removed that morning. I got a fan on pt as it was very hot in the little bathroom.
Pt. soon started to shiver so I found a towel to cover him. By now he started to come around a bit. Ambulance arrived within 5-7 minutes, checked the guy out and talked him into going to the hospital. He would only go if they allowed him to walk out on his own which he did.

This skeered the hell out of me and I did not sleep a wink that night going over what we did right and what we did wrong. I guess it was good practice.

He stopped in a few days ago to thank us and said he should not have been out. He was “sick in quarters”. Probably got his ass chewed.

I greatly admire what you do.
I think I have a case of PTSD over this. :smack:

Too much, I remember when I had my wisdom teeth yanked. If I had a wife that popped me across the chops a couple of times like that, even if she thought it was medically necessary (it wasn’t), it would have been grounds for an immediate separation and divorce. I was absolutely miserable for about 3 days afterwards.

My immediate reaction was the wife learned her first aid watching too many movies from the '50s.

Based on the seizure, I’d venture he had a reaction to the anesthetic. Second guess is vasovagal syncope (fainting), which is a common pain reaction. Hell, I do it, which is why I can handle blood so long as it isn’t my own.

There’s not much to do for seizures beyond what you did. Get them to the ground, clear the way, and let them seize. Your job is to make sure they don’t get hurt. When they come out of it, they’ll be confused, so be calming and reassuring.

Ya did good. Ya did even better by not beating the hell out of that idiot wife of his.
ETA: All my jars sealed. I’m so proud!

Howdy Y’all! Big day at da cave. Deheathenization was long what with all the confirmations/receiving and such. The Bishop actually preached a good sermon. I guess he figured out how to pick a point and make it between last Thursday night when he couldn’t do that and today. N.O.L. was wunnerful. Good food, good friends, good wine. After everybody left I loaded the dishwasher and decided to just lie down for a few minutes. This was at four p.m. Next thing I knew, I opened my eyes, looked at the clock and it was five fifteen. Guess I needed that. Anywho, right now I feel like I could go to bed.

donkeybear I’d rather see it in person.

‘Tis tryin’ to rain. It needs to quit tryin’ and actually, ya know, rain. :dubious:

Thank You Bobbiioooo for the “ya did good”. That makes me feel a tad bit better as I know had he really been dying he probably would have right there and it would have been my fault. At least on my watch. Woulda, coulda, shoulda… The gym is most frequented by older retirees so if probably will happen again one day. I do think I will purchase a pillow and blanket if we ever need one again. I need to just forget about it.

Oh, for Mommmm. Seeing the gyn tomorrow for unpleasantness of the time of the month I spillled on last MMP. You had surgery at 35 to rid yourself of the pesky parts, I am 51 yrs of age. I just want it to stop. TMI, I know. Thanks mumpers and have a good week.

Too Much TMI is not a problem here. Obviously. I mean, just look at donkeybear’s post about his problem with Pennsylvania.

Ok, stlll no rain but keeps threatenin’. :dubious:

Home from mom’s, stuffed, sticky, and exhausted. Not sticky like someone spilled stuff on me - just outside-in-the-humidity sticky. I’ll shower shortly. Lots of good food, but I didn’t get in the pool - just didn’t feel like it.

Critters have been fed and the weekend is pretty much over. The ladies who take the afghans from me have asked for knitted hats, so I’m going to make a pile of them - they’re quick. And my bro asked for an afghan, so I need to send him some pics and patterns to look at.

Tahred - I think I’ll shower and do some knitting. KISSES!!!

Thunder everywhere but no rain again. Le Sigh. I guess this is what drought means. :dubious:

On that note Ima go lie on the bed and watch me some teevee.

Nitey Nite Y’all!

Gonna hit the sack early tonight (or at leasst try). See all y’all next MMP

Watching bike races today was really fun. It’s amazing when 35 or so bikes come whooshing around a corner right next to you.

Haven’t really done anything useful today. Although I did take a nap.

Going out for a walk now.

Back later with the next MMP.

Hugs.

GT (You’re welcome, Bobbio. :))

Aww, is that the new trend, do we all abandon this one prematurely when we go to bed? Hmmph, I can’t handle everyone going to bed this early!

MOOOM, gotta love summer humidity, right?

swampy, don’t make threats like that, or I’ll be draining your bank account for plane tickets and lube!

Some of us are still awake, donkeybear. But not for too long, in my case.

Here’s the new MMP.
