Crafty Dopers, what are you working on?

I’ve scanned in an image of this wallhanging I did for a “Under the Boardwalk, Down by the Sea” challenge. It’s got a bunch of visual puns:
Beach Blanket Bingo
Sand Dollar (upper left hand corner of the sand)
Clownfish (with the red nose and balloons)
Card Shark
School of fish
Sea change (it’s hard to tell, but those are coins to the right of the octopus)
Anchormen (army-men-like policemen at the end of the chain)
That black cloud must be one but I don’t remember what it is!
but the best is the embellishments. It’s really hard to tell but there is fishing line and real fishhooks hanging from the boat, but all they caught was those flip-flops. The fish near the net has a pair of scissors and had cut a hole to free his pals. The octopus has suckers from those shower safety stick-on thingies. There’s netting on the volleyball stakes. Fringe on the beach umbrella, silver thread for the jellyfish tentacles.

Very fun!

I haven’t done any beading for quite a while, but I picked up a book of Celtic knot cross stitch patterns at the library the other day and am trying to convert them to beading patterns. No photos yet, but if things work out them maybe in a few days…weeks…months.

gigi, allavasudden I’ve got the B52’s Rock Lobster playing in my head.

I’m working on some knitted socks- got about 3" to go one the first one and in need of a kick in the pants to finish! I usually work 2 at once; the ribbing on #1, the ribbing on #2, the leg on #1, the leg on #2, etc so I dont’ finish a whole one and then have to start another, but I didn’t this time and I’m kicking myself!

I don’t know if I can figure out how to post a pic, it’s been forever since I’ve done it here and I don’t use any online hosting sites. I usually just use Ravelry.

You can do it!

Here are some pictures of cardboard pianos I made:

Picture 1
Picture 2

They’re wonderful!

Things I wish I could do: Sew, quilt, decent wire wrapping. I ENVY those of you that can!

Latest projects:
Christmas gift for my SO’s mother
Bridal jewelry for one of my bff’s
Graphic design portfolio

Now if only I could figure out how to make money doing the things I love!

Those are amazing!

I have a couple of items entered in the CA state fair that I recently finished up and submitted. I don’t know if I won anything yet or not. I’ve never entered anything in the state fair before, but people kept bugging me to. So this year I finally had some items done in time and not yet worn. That’s a problem for me because usually the minute something is finished I want to wear it or give it away to someone.

Heh – I had to delay giving a wedding gift because it was in one of the NH fairs last year.

Thanks, folks.

My latest project was making this little stuffed guy for a Grimm (the TV show) fan group. (A friend made the sweater.) We’re passing him around and taking pictures of him in different places. He’s in the United Arab Emirates right now.

Cute!

Love this thread! I’d like to contribute as well but am I allowed to directly attach images? Or do I have to upload them from something like a photobucket account?

Nope, you can’t post images in threads, you have to link to them. So, yeah, Photobucket or something.

Hmmm… Thank you, Biggirl. I’ll work on that. As of now I don’t have any kind of account. But I’m enjoying seeing the others, and especially loving your work with wire…

I used to play with sculpey clay a lot as a kid and I decided to pick it back up. I started by making bookmarks and then shifted to making magnets. Now I’m trying my luck at jewelry. It’s a new area for me but luckily each piece is getting better than the last.

Magnets
First bracelet
First earrings

Love those! What do you emboss with?

Argh. I’m working on the front of a sweater with a fairly complicated celtic braid up the middle – and just realized that I skipped a row. Rip rip rip. And since the pickup is obnoxious because of all the crossing cables, rip some more. Grrr.

No pix, just … grr.
