Crazy, crazy Task Manager in XP

My Task Manager (alt-ctrl-del) has suddenly changed – I can only see the running tasks, and can end tasks, but the other tabs (performance…) are not showing. The Close button to close the application is also absent.

Any ideas?

Is there anything on the running tasks list that shouldn’t be there?

My first reaction to this is there may be some sort of spyware / malware on your PC and part of its operation is to make it impossible to be stopped via taskman.

Thanks! I’ve been trying to figure out what my stepdad did to cripple his task manager window and how to fix it.
