Crazy TV show question... Were the Cylons related to K.I.T.T. ?

Yes, i know, KITT was not evil (KARR was…) but the Knigt Industries automated vehicles do seem to share a common feature with our favorite Toasters…

the red scanner “eye” moving back and forth, heck, they even share a similar “vwmm-vwmm” noise…

so, do you think KITT’S AI and red scanner lens thingy were the precursor to all things Cylon?

(yes, lets ignore the paradox that KR predates BSG by at least 10 years network-time-wise, i’ll bet KR was…a prquel, yeah, that’s it, a prequel…)

Perhaps a more logical evolutionary chain would be:

KITT --> HAL 9000 --> Cylons

No no no… Kitt is from scavanged Cylon tecnology. The horrible Original Battlestar Galactica came out in 1979. Then In the even more horrible Galactica 1980 came out showing that the original they find Earth in 1980. The Cylons were still chasing them (You know, because like Cylons “hate humanity with every fibre in their being” )

Well Seeing as Kitt shows up after this it is obvious that Knight industries found the Wreckage of a Cylon ship sometime after 1980 and stole the technolgy.

Actually I think Kitt is based on Cylon tech, no joke. I will report back shortly with some details.

Not quite what you meant but from Wiki http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cylon_(Battlestar_Galactica)#Trivia

Holy Crap I was kidding! Larson, What a loon.

Few people even suspect The Truth – the Cyclons are really descended from My Mother the Car.

Infuriating, that. Everything before Galactica 1980 indicated that they found Earth at the crack of the dawn of prehistory.

Even then it was muddled, I guess… Egyptian headdresses are based on colonial pilot helmets, but the story of Exodus is a corrupted version of the flight from Egypt, and Roman military organization is modelled after the Cylons?

that would explain one of the most heavily guarded deleted scenes in the KR archives…

<Michael> KITT, come here, i need you buddy!
<KITT> By your command…

What’s scary is that I had read this bit of triva before and knew how to find the quote.

So who had better hair: David (Michael Knight) Hasselhoff or Dirk (Starbuck) Benedict?

That’s a tough one. I think I’d go with Dirk Benedict…by a hair.
