Cream named one of their songs "SWLABR'--WTF?

And those initials just happen to be the abbreviation for the South West Los Angeles Board Of Realtors.

What’s going on here? Why did the best of the English supergroups name a song after after a business association based 7000 miles away?

It stands for ‘She Wants to Love A Bearded Rainbow’. I think. That’s how it was explained to me.

She Was Like A Bearded Rainbow"

BTW, Mr Swlabr was the name of a character in the syndicated anthology series “Monsters,” of which George Romero was one of the principals. In this episode, a boy finds a friend in a cereal box. He adds water to it, and it turns into some gross toad-looking thing, sorta like what Kelly LeBrock turned Bill Paxton into in “Weird Science.” Anyway, Mr Swlabr, disgusting though he appears, turns out to be a good friend to the little boy–and there’s gonna be hell to pay for the people that have been mean to him.

I loved that show! I thought I was the only one who remembered it. Do you know if it’s running in syndication or anything like that? (maybe where I can download episodes on the internet?)

It’s not currently running on any of the stations that I get. It did run for a year-and-a-half or so on SCI-FI, though. You can get a list of the episodes at epguides.com. However, it doesn’t have plot summaries or a cast list. I’ve been unable to find anything like that on the net.

Since many people may not follow the earlier link, it is worth mentioning that our very own TubaDiva wrote a Staff Report on the subject, here.

I always assumed it was just an alternate-phonetic way of spelling “slobber”. I expect that’s why Mr. Swlabr got the name, anyway.
