Creatures of Habit in the MMP

Glad you’re still amongst us shoe!

Glad to see shoe this morning.

Morning routine:
Turn off alarm, go to master bathroom for brushing teeth and using the toilet.
Go to the kitchen, turn on the espresso machine and put quick bread of the day on top of the espresso machine for warming.
Go to the other bathroom and shower.
Go back to the bedroom and tell husband to wake up.
Get dressed, including combing my hair, etc. At this point I am presentable, but my hair is still wet. If it is summer I will go outside like this.
Do stretching exercises for jaw.
Assemble my breakfast (müesli-like stuff).
Do shoulder exercises.
Eat breakfast, including drinking the latte, made by my husband. Breakfast is the only meal we read at, other meals are without computers/books. So I often look at Facebook/Dope/email during breakfast. If we’re eating outside, no computer.
Put dishes in the dishwasher.
Brush teeth.
If need groceries, go to the store. Otherwise I go immediately after lunch, to avoid crowds.
Go to work/gym.

I knew it was too good to last. Screwed-up sleep cycle returned with a vengeance - I was awake just after 2 today and couldn’t fall back to sleep. Dammit. But I’m showered, shampooed, dressed, and the critters have been tended to. I’m breakfasting and surfing till I have to fetch Roxy. Thus beginneth my day.

Either today or tomorrow, our septic tank is being pumped out - FCD thinks we should have it done since we had two years of extra bodies living here, with extra showers, lots of extra laundry, extra dishwashing… We have it done every 3 years anyway, and I know it hasn’t been done in the last 2, so we’re close to due anyway.

I made a teeth-cleaning appointment last night - they can’t get me in till Dec 30!!! My own fault, I guess. I was going to change dentists so I canceled my July appointment. But the practice I was going to use never did return my calls or on-line queries. Plus from the looks of their slick mailings, I suspect they tend to push extra procedures, and I have no time for that crap. So I’ll give the old practice another chance. The only reason I looked to change was that the practice has changed hands twice in the last 7 or 8 years. The original dentists moved to NC. I was OK with the guy who took over, but then his father got sick and he moved back to his home state and a third dentist took over. Makes me wonder what I’ll find in December. But I’ve got decent teeth - I just need a cleaning.

Did I mention FCD’s folks are coming here for Thanksgiving? He’ll drive to FL to pick them up, then we’ll both take them home. He convinced his father that he shouldn’t drive himself, what with his Parkinson’s and heart problems and the plague - they’d have to stop somewhere overnight each way. Anyway, I’m now starting to plan our dinner - it’ll be us, his folks, and Daughter and family, so 7 for dinner.

The bed for the guest room will arrive next week, and this morning, I remembered that we need to get pillows for it. I’d also like to get a chair or small bench for that room, and a small chest or dresser. So a month of shopping ahead. I’ll be taking some donations to the thrift store tomorrow - maybe I’ll see if they have anything that will work.

But for now, caffeination will continue till I have to fetch the toddler. Happy Tuesday!

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN 'Tis 64 Amurrkin out and partly cloudy with a predicted high of 86 and mostly N.O.S. for the day. Summer/Fall is here again. Tomorrow is supposed to be rainy. We shall see. The big item on today’s agenda is laundry. Forgot to mention that we had a change in plans for sup yestiddy. We did the geezer thing at the hawg trough, so tonight’s sup shall be what I posted yestiddy. Feel free to go back and read.

Boo indeed, the shower is more than big enough for both of us. However, we showered separately. Sometimes we show each other “appreciation” before nappage and sometimes not. Now you know.

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, onward into the day! Rah.

Happy Tuesday Y’all!

@purplehorseshoe - don’t feel bad about it, I can well imagine some people would take a look at my book of faces stuff and run a mile from my crazy friends! Good to hear that you’re ok and the CO2 monitor says your air is safe

Morning, mumpers! This morning I am passing the time listening to a friend’s radio show, it goes out tomorrow night but he sends it to me early, along with a couple of his other shows that go out during the week. Makes me feel so special!

Someone from the electric company is supposed to be here this afternoon to install a new smart meter for us. They’ve been insisting we have one for ages, and I finally gave in. Since I’m off work this week and have nowhere to go, I thought we might as well get it over and done with. Power should only be off for an hour but the kindle’s charged so I’m prepared. They promise to be here at some point between 12 and 4pm so I am now waiting for a call or text to say they’re on the way.

Got a message from a guitarist about a socially distanced indoor gig in December at a great local venue so I’ve bought tickets for that already. There isn’t much in the calendar, but it’s looking ever so slightly better than it was.

Glad to see @purplehorseshoe back among us. We were worried.

Happy Toosday!

It was a nice 58 degrees at the park this morning. Supposed to get up to 75 today.

Lawn/fence/bathroom guy is supposed to be here around 9:30 this morning. I finally got ahold of him yesterday. He had a busy day, which I’m not surprised. I’m cool with it.
I’m dreading all the noise and mess.
He says he is going to tear out the old tub and surround this morning. If there are no issues then he should get the new tub in today too.
I hope there are no issues.

Typing all that out MetalMouse made me realize just what a brat Echo is.
She is lucky she is (so ugly) she’s cute and cuddly.
I have to remember Ripple was a brat at that age too.
Now he acts like an old man.

The bump/swelling behind her nose is going down.
I think she is probably okay.

Since I can’t irk with all the noise and activity that will be going on this morning, I think I’m going to clean out the cabinets in the kitchen. It needs to be done, my son is doing a lot more cooking and he doesn’t put stuff back where it goes. I’m going to pull out all the stuff we seldom use and arrange the other stuff so it is easier to find and put back.
I have to do something with the chicken breasts I pulled out to thaw. I don’t know what I’m going to do with them, I’ll figure it out. And there’s the never ending laundry. If I have time I’m going to go through my clothes and get rid of some.

Good morning, y’all. Tango was a good boy this morning and let us all sleep until after 6am! Then he got a bad case of the zoomies and has been acting like a speed freak ever since. Hopefully he’ll wear himself out by the time I go to school. Allergies are crazed today, and both Pixel and I are sneezing and dealing with runny eyes. I have a counseling session at 10:15. Maybe she can get me zenned for the World Series.

Have a pleasant and productive Tuesday!

I’m sorry to cause anxiety. Helluva hole I’ve let myself slip into. But I swore yesterday that I’d quit drinking … then promptly went out & got myself a half pint. Felt like shit, mentally and physically, just from that little bit. (I used to measure my intake by the handle.) So today, no more.

I work the next two evenings, which at least is a distraction from being inside my own head. The fresh air helps, too.

Thank you all for the love.

I was getting nothing, but I didn’t know about highlighting the words. Thanks for being my HELP desk, Thel. Or as we call it at work, the HELPless desk.

Sort was a low anvil event today. Time for nappage, till Gordie wakes me up for walks.

… scurries off to Da Jungle to order a gross or two of anvils to give Doggie something to sort … :slightly_smiling_face:

I’m so glad to see shoe is back!

I’m slurping coffee, brain numb from a stress-fueled fight I picked with overlyhusband last night, all over a flipping TV. We have the one in the house, so I frequently avoid watching things only I enjoy because there is typically someone using the TV, whether it’s us watching as a family or me and my husband watching together (our tastes converge in a very specific place).

So…when my husband asked what I wanted for my birthday, I saw opportunity! We’ve tossed it around for about five years, so I said I finally wanted a TV for the basement so I could hide and watch trash. To which he replied, “I’ll have to think about it.” What I heard was, “You need my permission, but there may be rules,” which made my hackles rise. What he meant was, “I’m a little nervous about having an extra device around to distract the kids. It also makes me uneasy because I like family time and I’m worried we’ll have less of it with more technology.”

Instead of clarifying, I throw out a different idea, to which he says, “No, I want to give you a surprise.” So I ratchet it up a bit. “Why are you even asking? How about a clean house?” Also a no-go (too hard, also not a surprise). Finally, I leave, come back and say nastily, “What other criteria do I need to keep in mind for you to consider a birthday gift ‘acceptable?’” Cue the fourth of July.

The thing is, I normally don’t care. I don’t generally give ideas because I don’t really want a gift. I manage our credit card and could just as easily shop for exactly what I want. I don’t even know why this was a big deal with the exception of the ill-translated delivery. Anyway, I went to bed and now we’re in that odd spot where we’re warily circling each other and being extremely polite. sigh I would like to have a re-do.

talky, marriage is like that, I hear (having never found myself in the state of matrimony, I have no experience to fall back on). Hopefully you and hubby will make peace and you’ll get the TV (heck, I’m single and I have 2 TV’s–they’re dirt cheap these days).

boo fae, welcome to the 21st century in meters… And enjoy the music in December.

Everyone else boos, hugs, yeas, and tears in proper doses.

Now need to clean up slightly and go forth to mail and pay bills.

The thing that set me off was that you seemed woozy from the CO. That’s it in a nutshell. I pictured you lying on the floor with the batteries next to you. And I was worried about all the critters who might succumb, too.

If it hadn’t been for the CO, I wouldn’t have freaked out.

The trouble is, as I mentioned, with my history, quite often what seemed like a little nothing turned into a Great Big Life-Threatening Something. I’ve taken or accompanied people to the ER quite a few times. Sorry for the alarm.

Last Friday I had my annual physical exam with flu shot and pneumonia vaccine booster. There was a list of preventative items for seniors. The first on the list was an Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm Screening. One of the markers for this was: Men who are 65-75 years old and have smoked over 100 cigarettes in their lifetime.

I went for the test this morning. They sent the ultrasound to my GP. He called me about an hour after I left the clinic and explained the results. I have an aneurysm. It is in the category that could become dangerous. He said he would refer me to a vascular surgeon. The vascular clinic called me about ten minutes later with an appointment for tomorrow.

The speed at which this is happening is not very comforting…

I hope that everything gets repaired without incident hippy.

I was beginning to think I’d turned the corner with the sickies, but had a rough night last night and am having a morning where I can’t quit coughing. Oy vey!

Stay safe and healthy y’all!

Talky, ugh, if I had a nickel for every time the Wheelette and I got into a fight over a misunderstood utterance, I’d have… well, a whole buncha nickels. I’m sure you and the hubs will be back to normal in no time.

Kinda doesn’t seem fair that you don’t get to watch what you wanna watch, though. But even without a new TV, you can always sneak off to the basement with your laptop. Don’t know what your usual viewing platform is, but most streaming services and even cable packages don’t even need the actual TV anymore.

Shoe, I’m relieved you’re still around. I admit I had a similar mental image as Thelma’s.

Hippy, best of luck with your new challenge. Actually, don’t rely on luck. Sounds like your doc’s got this; let ‘em patch you up and get you out of the woods quickly!

We received our ballots Friday and filled them out Saturday morning. Mrs. L.A. took them to the ballot box at the fire station about two miles away. I checked the status of both of our ballots this morning, and they show as having been received yesterday.
