Creeped out by Silent Hill 2

Ashy inhales deeply, exhaling with a pained shiver

Yea…I thought I was a bad-ash. I was so good that I could play through Silent Hill without breaking a sweat, without even flinching…truth be told–there was once a time when it made my pulse quicken and my nerves fray, but that time was long past.

I recently aquired a copy of Silent Hill 2.

At first–it was fun and games. After all-- -I- was a bad-ash. I was ‘desensitized’ to the violent and disturbing images that would no doubt be contain therein…

The first couple of days, it was easy…but now, on the third day, I once again made the mistake of playing late at night…by myself…all alone…with the lights off. And I did once again make the mistake of letting myself get -completely- immersed into it…

I haven’t been this frightened since…since…well…the first Silent Hill. -.-

To anyone who liked the first Silent Hill…I heartily recommend the second one on PSX-2.

It is beautiful. It is artful.

And it is horrible.

I agree totally. I think both Silent Hills have a certain something that makes them creepier than the other “survival horror” games (Resident Evil). When I finished Silent Hill, I described it to my friend like this: “If I had actually lived through and experienced the events in Resident Evil, I’d be okay… shell shocked for a while, but I’d recover. If I experienced the events in Silent Hill, I’d become quite insane.”

My only beef with SH 2 is that none of the beasts are as disturbing as the knife wielding kids on SH 1 .

Have you gotten all the endings yet? I’m on my second go-through now… one ending down, four to go.

[sub]and yes, I get scared by it[/sub]

Never really got into Silent Hill, but I used to stay up until 4 am playing “Resident Evil 2”. Same feeling. Every noise made me jump.

I don’t do games, but I will say that the commercial for Silent Hill 2 scared the hell out of me. And since I spent most of last week watching the ST:TNG marathon, I saw it no less than 400 times, and it is now burned into my brain permanently. Only slightly less frightening to me is the Bowflex commercial.

Are these first-person shooters, or are they adventure games?

I love horror adventure games; my favorite so far is Sanitarium. I’m not very good at shooting games where you have to find weapons and things.

My husband is addicted to strategy games and the first-person shooters. He plays on the internet almost every night.

I prefer puzzles, atmosphere, clicking on cool stuff and creepiness. I’ve been playing Dracula Resurrection, but haven’t finished it yet.

Sheri

Haven’t tried SH2 yet, but made it through the first Silent Hill twice. It was by far the scariest video game I’ve ever played. I promised my wife a PS 2 for Christmas after I saw the SH2 commercials.

The first Silent Hill is an action/adventure game, ala Resident Evil

Silent Hill 2 is similar, but there are actually two separate difficulty settings for action and puzzles, so you can make the action really easy, or virtually nonexistant.

I’m still on my first play through. I haven’t quite finished it yet.
