I don’t see a lot of threads about CM around here–probably because it conflicts with Lost. (Thank Heavens for Tivo and a VCR.) But I’ll admit I love this show–probably because I have what my psychologist mother tells me is a not-unhealthy interest in serial killers and the psychology behind catching them.
Anyway, in last night’s cliffhanger, we were left wondering what book the team has to find in order to solve the cipher left for them by the killer. My money is on Le Morte D’Arthur, with The Once and Future King coming in a close second. They purposely did this to drive me crazy all summer, I have no doubt.
I started watching this show for Mandy Patempkin and Thomas Gibson, and ended up liking it! The team works well together, though they tend to be stereotypes, and Gibson is still “acting” like Greg–can’t he play anyone else.
It was fun to see computer geek Garcia Fuck Up Royally and a bit of Spender Reid’s family. I was beginning to think the guy was a space alien! I have no clue what the book is. Did Elle get shot at the end?
I would recommend that you peopie watch a couple of summer reruns.
I just started watching a few episodes ago. I too, was drawn in by Mandy Patempkin. His characters are always so unflappable.
Does anyone remember all of the clues? There’s the butterfly, the key, the manless head, the baseball card, the sword, the music box, and the captive girl, what am I missing?
From the clues I remember, my guess as to the book is The Collector, by John Fowles.
About Elle, my guess is she was wounded and taken prisoner. I think it was part of the plan.
I think that was about it for the clues, except for whatever was said to Hotchner on the phone.
My guess is based on the following:
Garcia was playing a game called Camelot.
The medieval speech.
The fact that UnSub said the book “inspired” quests–like the quest for the Holy Grail.
I thought I would re-open this thread from last week since I was away and just got around to catching up on Tivo.
My only comment, and it seemed almost obvious to me so I am probably wrong, is that the book they need is the one that Reid gave to his mom. It was said that he sends her daily letters about all of their cases, and she refers to them as “his adventures”. So if somebody had access to those letters they would know a lot about the team. That is my guess anyway.
If it is with Reid, it’s way to easy an out for the writers…
Beyond that, if it was the book that Reid gave his mom, chances are that Reid would have already put it together.
My WAG on the ending
The shot we heard was a sniper/fellow officer on the bad guy… they sent Ellie home because Gideon’s move with the press was a ‘calculated’ move to get the bad guy to make a bolder move. Simply put, you don’t send a tired offficer home alone if the bad guy knows ‘everything’ there is to know about the team.
If Ellie is shot, it’s just a wound but she manages to get her gun and get her own shot into the bad guy.
After the bad guy is down, he either dies or clams up and they still have to figure out where the girl is… problem is they now are playing without the ‘gamester’ leading them… but it was said that they already had all the clues they needed.
I hope you’re right. The first thing I said to my fiance as we saw Ellie go into the house alone was that there was no way that would have happened. Some crazy guy out there knows everything about them and she goes home alone? I don’t think so.
