Crimson Glyph forbidden thread:

Peeker’s most recent post brings up a good point… Meeko seems way too eager for role info… he needs to learn to cool it and not press so hard for claims.

Are there any people’s in here who are interested in playing a game of mafia but haven’t played yet? Or have played only in one or two games and are interested in joining a newbie friendly game? Know of anyone that falls into said category?

I might be interested depending on the setup. I’ve played in 2-3 and was Mod on one. I’m absolutely not interested in playing a game that includes either Meeko or peerkercpa. (No offense when you read this guys, I just don’t have the tolerance for either of your gaming styles)

I just want to point out that, if Angel had not slipped up and posted here, she had the perfect hiding strategy

Everyone on the thread was asking why she’d admit to being Sinfected, and the obvious answer is to build trust. Nobody really seemed to suspect her until she came clean. (I assume because she knew she was about to be modkilled, and wanted to help the town).

Certainly. I’ve stated my interest in an upcoming game on domebo, but I dunno when that’ll start. Sign me up.

The game on DoMeBo starts on Thursday… dunno when PMs go out… I look forward to killing you though

By paul! see you soon!

I’d be interested in a simpler game (I’ve played in 2). Is this game here, at domebo, or at the “Mafia Games” board (IdleThought’s I think)?

The game is on idlemafia.com . I already joined.

Paul’s official thread

Oh, and how funny is it that BillMC just got subbed out, and then got his ISP to let him post? This game has a lot of odd stuff happening in it.

Paul: no, don’t tell people to Kill Bill!

I think Meeko is a sock for Yogi Berra

Am I the only one who is reflexively skimming or skipping Meeko’s posts at this point? I’d be in big danger of getting called out for skimming if I were in a game with him.

No you aren’t. Why do you think I requested a mod kill?

at least you didn’t have to share a mason thread with him.

Though, somewhere in Day 2, I stopped using it.

Poor Meeko

Anyone have any idea why he’s voting for Mahaloth but doesn’t want others to? so strange.

I don’t think he’s a ‘big picture’ guy.

I think he’s trying to display his brilliance. If he can figure out the game through his intricate plans, I think he feels like he’ll win. Unfortunately, it’s not that type of game.

Yep. He’s approaching it like he does Haggle.

He keeps talking about how he’s “thinking outside the box.”

However, mafia is not haggle (or diplomacy, or any of the similar ilk):

  1. There are no shifting alliances. (Recruitment aside, but even still, once recruited, your alliance won’t shift unless their are multiple recruitments.)

  2. Sacrificing your own goals for the big picture is encouraged.

  3. While there are things in the game to figure out, no matter how complex or simple the setup, the overall strategy remains constant between incarnations.

  4. For the most part, everyone on your given team has a much info about what’s going on as you do. And those who have more, will reveal it as they see best for the side, not for themselves.

Corollary 4) Those who aren’t on your side will not reveal what extra they know to you in order to help you. If they tell you something, they’re either lying, it somehow benefits them more than not revealing it, or they screwed up.

  1. The game is not about exploiting the rules to your benefit. (Though, if you actually can without breaking them, more power to you.)

  2. While, like Haggle, the game is about reading other people to figure out where they are coming from. You can’t ignore someone you don’t want to deal with. If you don’t want to deal with them, they can still get to you. After all, no one can really not deal with Meeko, as much as many would like to. In Haggle, someone who was annoying everyone as much as Meeko is in this mafia game could easily be ignored and that would result in that individual’s loss, because the only way to win is to work with others directly. In Mafia, you have to work with everyone on your side, or your entire side will suffer.

  3. Essentially, the game is much more about figuring out a static setup where little information is given and will only trickle out. The state of the game as far as the strength of each faction will shift, but the factions are only a handful in number and regardless of the events that transpire, the overall goals of each faction won’t change, and neither does the overall strategy of the faction or the players in it.

These are ultimately Meeko’s issues. He’s not playing mafia. Peeker, as incomprehensible as he can be sometimes, at least plays mafia. He understands the basic premise, and how to achieve the goals, even if his methods frequently lead to head-scratching by everyone else. Part of the reason for this was peeker was open to be trained by ShadowFacts in his first game (both were masons). Peeker’s style has always been odd, but peeker wasn’t trying to “figure out the game and beat it”, rather he was trying to “figure out how to play”.

You know, there is a good point lurking in there (lurking rather well, but definitely there). Towards the very end of the game, the sinners might win just because prayer is slow, especially since we’ve already lost two desinning town power roles. Worth keeping in mind for the endgame.

meeko is being crazy again (yes, dog bites man). He was acting suspicious of chronos because chronos can…count. At this point i still want to lynch mahaloth.

I have a strong urge to go into the game thread and give a grammar lesson on irregular past tense verbs.

restrain yourself…if you can :).

Despite his playstyle, meeko is the obvious kill tonight provided that no power role is uncovered in the next few days. If he had sense he’d spend the next few days typing up his grand theory and then post it a few minutes before Dawn, thus ensuring both that it would survive and that it would not influence the NK. I think he’s on track to preempt Dawn, however, which could end rather badly.

I mostly agree with the in-game nose count:
"Yeesh, indeed. I’m thinking we probably started with 12 Townies and 6 scum; just seems like a nice symmetry, but maybe it was 11-7. Given the Sinners recruitment ability, I would guess that if one scum team was smaller than the other, it would be them. Basically, the three opening alignments that seem most plausible to me would be 11-4-3, 12-4-2 or 12-3-3.

Which would mean, respectively, that we are right now at 4-4-2, 5-4-1, or 5-3-2. "
Depending on how strong ped thought the sinner faction was, he might have been very generous and started the game 13-3-2, but I think Thing fish is more likely correct.

Town is probably screwed. One ray of hope: No cop has turned up, so there could be a town player sitting on a lot of information right now.
