Cringeworthy moments in tng

Yes, thank you, Counselor, we can all see they’re horny as hell! :smack:

Anything that had Brent Spiner using a different voice. He has two: his natural voice and that high pitched, creaking voice he used for everything else.

[Crooking finger] ‘Data’s not here, Mrs. Torrance…’

I meant that.

That’s the tickte.

The phenomenal episode “The Best of Both Worlds, Part I” (featuring the return of the Borg) almost had perhaps the most cringeworthy moment in all the series, one that would’ve made repeat viewings nearly unbearable for a lot of people, I’d venture-- myself included.

Riker, in Ten-Forward, singing Jimmy Durante’s “Did You Ever Have the Feelin’?” for Troi and Guinan.

Thankfully, cooler heads prevailed and the scene was cut.

the remake of the TOS drunk disease episode where yar basically uses data as a vibrator and then on the bridge announces in front of everyone “nothing happened” and every one gives her the "yeah right if you say so " look a split second before the credits

and if I remember the episode where she was killed by living goo was pretty bad too

Ah yes, Cloud Face guy.
That was such a bull shit scene. Wesley is there, then he’s gone with no explanation, and then he’s there again, all with in the time frame of about five minutes. Is there a bathroom on the bridge? Because that’s about all he had time to do while his replacement was busy getting killed.
Also, what about that one Strafleet character that decided it would be a good idea to get into a romantic relationship with Data? I mean hey, she had to drop her last BF because he was “distant” and “Not there”, so surely getting involved getting involved with a sentient android incapable of emotion is just what the doctor ordered!

Although that one did have a pretty good ending. “I will delete the necessary programs.” (IIRC). I thought that was a pretty good everything-is-futile-and-transient downer of an ending.

The only character I ever recalled getting into a relationship with Data was Yar, and she had a traumatic history with men. A relationship with an android actually makes a twisted sort of sense, given that.

“In Theory” "Star Trek: The Next Generation" In Theory (TV Episode 1991) - IMDb

Because, there has to be a nebula.

Bayard is right - there was an episode in which the B-story was Data having a girlfriend : called “In Theory” I think.

Yar didn’t get into a relationship with Data. She had a One Night Stand with him, and that was only because the ship had encountered some sort of virus that was making the entire crew bat shit crazy.

The girl I’m talking about was of sound mind and made the conscious decision to get into a relationship with Data.

I think that was partially the point. It wasn’t a good decision for her, and she realized it. She was just running away.

The even more sad part was that it made no effect on Data at all. It was just another experiment.

For that reason, it was actually a good episode. Made me cry a bit at the end, as Data goes back to holding Spot, not the least perturbed by the end of the “experiment”.

One of the few things they eventually got right in TNG was showing how Data, a being without emotion, was totally different than Spock, a being who suppressed emotion. This episode was part of that exploration.

Nobody wants to bring up Dr. Crusher’s green smoke ghost sex on Planet DinnaeteachyerGrannytaesuckeggs?

No I’d rather bring up Troi and Beverly discussing how their boobs are firmer.

or, not.

Sub Rosa, i.e. “We stole this wholesale from Anne Rice”

Well, I think that was the idea – the woman was gravitating towards cold, distant men one after the other, and Data was the ultimate distant, unavailable man. It didn’t make for an exciting episode though.

On the other hand, that episode did result in the single-greatest double entrendre in the history of Star Trek…

Data: “Lt. (whoever) has just given me, what you might refer to as…a passionate kiss in the torpedo bay.”

The Ghost and Dr. Crusher.

“Gentlemen! **Risk **is our business! That’s what this starship is all about! That’s why we’re aboard her!

Whoops, sorry! That was a cringeworthy moment from TOS. :smack:
