Crisis on Infinite Earths - CW Arrowverse crossover 2019-20

This summary was awesome, thank you. I think the end result of this (like the Comic series it was named after) is when it is all done, all the CW DC shows will be on the same Earth.

I really shouldn’t have called that other one the “final trailer” because of course there’s another, longer one that’s just been released:

Check out Wil Wheaton pulling a Rorschach “THE END IS NIGH”.

A couple of scenes from what appears to be the first episode of the crossover. Be forewarned, they are very spoilerrific.

The Crisis begins tonight!

Remember that Supergirl moves to 8 pm tonight while Batgirl moves to Monday at 8 pm, followed by a Crisis-related episode of Black Lightning. The Flash follows on Tuesday at 8 pm and then the whole thing goes on hiatus until Jan 14.

THE KICKOFF TO THE EPIC TELEVISON CROSSOVER EVENT, CRISIS ON INFINITE EARTHS - The Monitor sends Harbinger to gather the worlds’ greatest heroes - Supergirl, The Flash, Green Arrow, Batwoman, White Canary, The Atom and Superman - in preparation for the impending Crisis. With their worlds in imminent danger, the superheroes suit up for battle while J’onn and Alex recruit Lena to help them find a way to save the people of Earth-38.

CAN THE REAL CLARK KENT PLEASE STAND UP? PART TWO OF CRISIS ON INFINITE EARTHS CONTINUES WITH SPECIAL GUEST STARS TOM WELLING, ERICA DURANCE AND KEVIN CONROY - The group uses Ray’s invention to track new recruits to help save the universe. The Monitor sends Iris, Clark and Lois in search of a mysterious Kryptonian, while Kate and Kara head out to find Bruce Wayne. In addition, Mia challenges Sara, Rory discovers a hidden talent, and Lex Luthor returns.

BLACK LIGHTNING JOINS THE ARROWVERSE IN THE THIRD CHAPTER OF THE CROSSOVER - Pariah enlists Black Lightning to help stop the Anti-Monitor after Flash-90 shares what he learned from his battle in ‘Elseworlds.’ With the help of Black Lightning, Barry, Cisco and Killer Frost come up with a plan that could save them all. Meanwhile, Iris has a heart-to-heart with Ryan Choi (guest star Osric Chau), while Oliver and Diggle return to an old familiar stomping ground.

Holy Cameo – Burt Ward has put on some weight…
There will be post Crisis Arrow episodes – probably dealing with The Death of Oliver Queen – though is anyone ever really dead?
Watching the “Aftermath” special now.

Ok, so we had Alexander Knox (Robert Wuhl) from Batman (1989) on Earth-89; Dick Grayson (Burt Ward) from the Batman TV series (1966) on Earth-66; and a quick shot of Hawk and Jason Todd/Robin from DC Universe’s Titans streaming series on Earth-9.

Earth-89 and Earth-66 take their numbers from the actual years the original material was produced; in an earlier episode of the CW The Flash TV series, we had Barry Allen/The Flash (John Wesley Shipp) from the CBS The Flash TV Series (1991) on Earth-91. So, is there any significance to Titans being on Earth-9, or was that number just random?

In the trivia contest at the bar, the trivia host was played by Griffin Newman, aka Arthur from Amazon’s The Tick streaming series. The Tick has no association with DC that I know of, so that casting was probably just a bit of a joke, not an indication that the Tick’s Earth is part of the CW multiverse. I didn’t catch the name of the competing trivia team or get a good look at any of the actors - was there a joke or reference there?

I said it before in relation to Earth-2 being destroyed, and I’ll say it again in the aftermath of the destruction of Earth-38: The CW are not fooling around. Killing off Oliver in the first hour?! Wasn’t that supposed to happen, I don’t know, during the Arrow segment in January? Even the Monitor was nonplussed. The multiverse is in big, big trouble.

We also had the theme music from their respective movie or TV show, including Danny Elfman’s Batman theme. Can John Williams’ Superman theme be coming up?

…yup.

As a fan of DC Comics for over 60 years, I was delighted.

Very nice hearing the Superman theme. Not sure if I have seen Kevin Conroy in the flesh before.

I was expecting the Monitor to stop the Lazarus pit attempt, and the anti-Monitor to look more like the Monitor.

2nd episode was a big improvement over the 1st one. Less angst and more fun. Ray x2, Nick & Snark snarking as the ships AI helped a lot.

“Lex?”

<pause>

“I didn’t know the president was in town.”

Clark Kent doesn’t need to be Superman to punch out Lex.

Quite possibly the funniest episode of Batwoman thus far. Not that Batwoman is utterly lacking in humor (the baterang incident and the vignette with Bruce’s dinosaur come to mind), but this was Legends-level hilarious. The scene with baby Jonathan being passed from hero to hero was perfect to deflate the Monitor’s pomposity. (The music was perfectly timed, too.) And of course, romance author Rebecca Silver is good with kids.

I was wondering if they were going to include the comic subplot of Lyla being recruited by the Anti-Monitor. Looks like they have, which means the Monitor is in big trouble.

So far, we’ve got as Paragons:
[ul]
[li]Kara - Hope[/li][li]Sara - Destiny[/li][li]Clark-96* - Truth[/li][li]Kate - Courage[/li][/ul]
Shouldn’t Barry and Oliver be on the list?

Did anyone catch Black Lightning? They really went all in with red skies and the multiverse, including what’s been happening in the Earth-1 and Earth-2 versions of Freeland.

*The Kingdom Come mini-series was published in 1996.

I really wanted him to be the paragon though and have more of a role to play. I’d much rather see a Tom Wellling Superman than a Brandon Routh Superman.

Apparently, nobody on the show is the Paragon of Prudence, or that character would have kept an eye on Lex.

Lucifer IS a DC character… (Well, among other sources, but I’m talking the comic/TV version)

Nice fakeout by Tom Ellis; I actually believed his denial that he had nothing to do with Crisis and was just visiting friends in Vancouver. They don’t call him the Father of Lies for nothing. Rather fitting that Lucifer Morningstar lives on Earth-666.

This entire episode was a good fakeout. I think most were expecting that it would end on a cliffhanger, but that it would be “FLASH MISSING - VANISHES IN CRISIS”. Flash did vanish in Crisis, but it was Flash of Earth-90. (Incidentally, great callback to the 1990 series.) I am happy to have predicted this. I also anticipated the death of the Monitor, once I saw Harbinger subverted by the Anti-Monitor. What I didn’t predict was the utter destruction of the entire multiverse, including Earth-1. That didn’t happen in the comics! And now I really don’t know what to expect, and we’ll have to wait more than a month for the resolution.

The three remaining Paragons:
[ul]
[li]J’onn - Honor[/li][li]Barry - Love[/li][li]Ryan Choi - Humanity[/li][/ul]
But they’ve lost Superman-96, the Paragon of Truth, replaced by Lex Luthor (the embodiment of deceit?).

Forgot about the other fakeout. I was expecting to see Batwoman v. Supergirl, since they set everything up with Kate getting some of Bruce’s kryptonite. Great to see Kate talk Kara down from using the Book of Destiny, her revealing she had a backup plan in the form of kryptonite, and then Kara trusting Kate enough to let her keep it. I hope we get to see some mini-crossovers between the two of them in the future. World’s Finest!

At the end, Destiny should show up and pick up his book. He casually flips to a certain page in the book, casually nods and leaves.
