Critique my clothing.

Some items of clothing I’ve fallen in love with recently.

Silver Sequin dress. Will be worn with opaque black tights and silver pumps for Spring Waltz at Grinnell College.

Bronze leggings. For wearing with dresses instead of tights with these shoes.

Cheap Target version of these footless socks, which will also be worn with the above shoes.

So what do you think? Be honest. Be vicious. I’m still going to wear them anyway.

Keep in mind, though, that I’m 21 and in college, where no one cares what you wear.

I like the shoes.

I’m 53, though, so that probably means you should rethink them.

Hell no, I love those shoes. They’re everything I ever wanted in a summer shoe–a sandal with a closed toe, so I can wear them with tights or bare feet, a heel to give me fierce tallness, but a wedge to make them easy to walk in…and they’re super comfy. Best shoes ever.

I love the shoes and the socks. The leggings aren’t my colour, but are cute (I’m an 80’s girl, so ya know I can get behind leggings) the dress? Ick. Unless you’re thin as a rail, well, you have far better self-image than I if you’d be comfortable in it. It’s not a flattering style. I’m 36, by the way, classic style (like those shoes) is universal, ignore twickster!

Just remember to post a picture when you’re dressed up so we can see the final effect.

Not that we’d mind a picture of you undressed either…

Well, we’d need to see you in them to properly judge.

And what the hell is a footless sock?

Anything bought at American Apparel is automatically worthy of ridicule IMHO. No offense meant.

Footless socks. I don’t get it.

I think the dress works if you’re really, really skinny. (eta: like that freak woman in the photo. Look at her arms!) Otherwise, it looks unflattering. The bronze leggings could be either interesting or really weird. I think I’d have to see them on and in person to fully understand their impact.

Yeah, my good, basic, sweatshop-free t-shirts and thermal undershirts are just so hilarious. I mean, what isn’t hysterical about comfortable clothing made at fair wages?

Well the 70s had their comeback, now I guess it’s the 80s turn. I wonder when it’s this decade’s turn to come back, what the result will be?

Hoodies.

That’s what I was thinking, sturmhauke.

Meh, I’ll take sweatshop made clothing over a company whose CEO engages in sexual harassment, and where tank thongs are considered an acceptable form of dress.

And then there are the sunglasses. The hideous, hideous sunglasses.

Well, I didn’t actually buy the American Apparel socks, I got the Target version for a quarter of the price.

As for the dress…I’m pretty skinny (120lbs at 5’3"), so I feel like I can pull it off. Plus, I go to a school where people wore Uggs with their dresses to Winter Waltz, so I won’t be at the bottom of the fashion barrel.

You should look hot toh kool dluohs uoY.

Oh, and here are the footless socks and the shoes together. It’s hard to take pictures of your own feet.

I’m 21 too. I love the shoes. They’re adorable! However, I’ve never been a fan of leggings, so I don’t know that I’m the right person to judge the rest of the outfit.

I LOVE the shoes and the bronze leggings! But the blue footless socks I could do without. Probably because I’m an old fuddy-duddy and wish the 80s never happened. Other than that… I’m sure you’ll look marvelous!

I have to say the bronze leggings/hose look EXACTLY like orthopedic support hose.

I do like the dress and the shoes, though.

I’m not a fan of sequins, leggings, or blue footless socks. That being said, I think the dress could be pulled off with the right shoes and understated accessories and makeup. I am much too prejudiced against leggings to comment on those. The shoes aren’t my style, but they look cute enough. They look odd with those socks though. What exactly are the point of footless socks anyway? :dubious:

It’s difficult to judge an article of clothing per se, though. My roommate bought a dress recently that I thought looked meh on the hanger, but she “worked it,” to borrow a Tyra-ism. It looked awesome on her. She somehow manages to pull off weird articles of clothing that would make me look ridiculous. It’s bizarre.
