I know it’s early so I’m not going to post much, but I wanted to get the thread started. My only comment at this stage is to notice that Hodges made the opening (picture) credits this week…about time.
I’ll refrain from all other comment until after the show has aired PDT.
Hm. I’m a big fan of the Grissom/Sara relationship, but since (spoilering just in case although it seems to be widely known and in press)
Sara is leaving in a few episodes
I am wondering how this new arc will be handled. Will we see rings? A wedding? Will anyone find out? Etc.
And damn the bee outfits, ruined a kiss.
I hated the new chick less this episode. Wasn’t so damn annoying. And the case was kinda interesting - too bad the mom (understandably) flipped out and killed the guy trying to help.
My DVR cut off when Catherine was talking to Grissom in his office at the end about going to the press. Did I miss much?
This case was kind of annoying. I don’t know why everyone rushed to call the kid a transsexual when he was clearly presenting himself as male. It was obvious the breasts had some medical explanation.
The full episode title is “The Case of the Cross-Dressing Carp”. Which is silly because neither the unfortunate teenager nor the unlucky reporter (or the titular fish, come to think of it) wore women’s clothing.
That bothered me too. Brass et al were off base at the end telling the mother that Brandon was planning to get a sex change operation. This after we spent the whole case establishing that he was essentially poisoned by hormones in the water, not that he was a girl trapped in a boy’s body. I thought he was saving cash for medical treatment to reverse the effects of the flushed drugs. Lightheartedly referring to the victim earlier as “the tranny” didn’t help either.
The casino case was better. Looks like Greg still has a thing for older women.
I’m not sure what to make of the ‘You could get fired’ [for ratting on the polluters]/‘I don’t care’ exchange between Grissom and Catherine at the end. Is this a potential story arc, or just an “Erin Brokovich” shout out, or both?
Indyellen, I’m pretty sure Wallace Langham has been in the opening credits since the season premiere, replacing Louise Lombard. I agree it’s about time - Hodges for me is a ‘love to hate’ character, sort of like Ecklie but without the evil powers. He grew on me slowly, unlike Sophia who crashed the party as a Mary Sue and hasn’t quite shaken off that taint.
Hee. Geeks in love, thwarted by their own paraphernalia! Too bad an innocent bee died (stinger ripped out) because Sara was so gobsmacked.
You may be right; this is the first episode I noticed it. I did notice that Louise Lombard wasn’t in the premier episode credits, she was in last week’s, and then gone again in this one. I’m wondering if they decided to alternate depending on who is “featured” in the episode.
Besides, as much as I love Hodges, if they’re going to add a reoccurring character to the credits, I think it should be David (David Berman) if anyone. I almost like him better than the regular ME. (Yes, I know he’s their researcher, too.)
Yeah, David Berman is the shit, but he owes me a DVD. No really, he does. But he’s still a nice guy.
*He came to my university last semester with Jon Wellner (another CSI researcher) to talk about researching for the show. I won the trivia contest they held. My prize - season 1 of CSI missing disc 5. Snazzy, huh?
The ‘Cross Dressing Carp’ only had to deal with the boy and the researcher because that’s what they were researching - had nothing to do with the case itself… the cross dressing carp was evidently reffering to the fish that Grissom ‘autopsied’ and found it had both sex organs - something carp dont do naturally (other species of fish can change if conditions warrant, carp don’t).
