I liked this episode a lot. Grissom off on his own, trying to debunk evidence provided by an “expert” witness, while the rest of the team tries to figure out who killed Christina.
I was a bit shocked at Catherine’s diatribe against the Sunflower clinic. I was a bit  at their political stance, but what’s wrong with implanting unwanted embryos into adopting mothers if all parties are in agreement? Catherine’s reaction seemed very unprofessional and completely out of line.
A question about the malathion…if the expert witness had indeed done his testing in a lab, wouldn’t they also be a part of the fraud? Or did Thayer do that on his own without telling them?
I think it was stated in court that the insect growth test took place in an independent lab, which could provide independent witnesses to back the validity of the video tape. I’m sure Thayer made certain only he knew of the malathion.
I think CSI is getting better and better this season. I love seeing Grissom’s brain working in overdrive.
I guess my question is how did Grissom get access to the flies used in the video – is that part of the evidence they have to provide to the prosecution? My original thought was they froze the pig or something similar.
I think Catherine’s diatribe was to allow for Grissom’s “reprimand” to show the interaction between the two of them.
The one thing I want the most, most, most from CSI – a return a Lady Heather and her and Grissom to get together. But I think that actress is on the O.C. or one of those shows now.
Interesting “bit-player” note – the actress who played the baby’s biological mother (daughter of the eventual murderer) is the same woman who played the initial “housewife hooker” in last week’s Close To Home.
The judge was quite explicit about the defence giving everything over (and sounded angry while doing so). I am not a lawyer but, my understanding is that the defence was supposed to hand that sort of thing over when the prosecution first asked for all the information relating to the expert testimony (before the events of the show).
Freezing the pig would have been harder to detect. However, the expert noted that the test was done by an independant lab. If the pig had been frozen at the start of the experiment, the people in the lab would have noted that in the report (I’m giving them the benfit of the doubt).
She’s on the O.C. and doing a fine job there, but I miss her as Lady Heather, too–that’s one of my main ships for the show. sighs woefully
What was with Catherine’s snarky comment to Greg? “Don’t apologize for doing your job.” “…Okay.” And cue Greg’s kicked-puppy-dog look. What was that for?
Big big focus on Catherine and Grissom, which really sapped the character and interest from the supporting roles, but the new lab techs–especially the bitchy semi-regular guy and the new touchy-feely girl (who I swear to God looks exactly like Lois Lane on Smallville)–were hilarious. I still don’t like Sofia.
The “touchy-feely” girl is Liz Vassey, who was AmericancoughCaptain LibertycoughMaid on the live action Tick, and also appeared in the second season of Tru Calling.
Grissom and Sara are supposed to be together. I sometimes post on a large CSI board mainly devoted to Grissom/Sara. There’s a lot of subtle and even not so subtle clues that make me think they have feelings for each other. But to each their own, I suppose.
I missed this ep because I accidentally napped until OC then was starving by the time CSI came on. I haven’t been so impressed yet this season so I wasn’t super inclined to watch it. Last year as a whole was disappointing to me as well.
I liked how this episode illustrated how inept Gil is as a supervisor. He can’t get his evaluations done. He can’t give a well deserved reprimand to save his life. He belongs locked in a lab and away from human contact. But I love when he is confronted by the world the rest of us live in.
There’s been a bunch of actors from HBO’s Carnivale on CSI – Sofie was the UFO cult girl a few weeks ago, Jonesy was someone’s husband that killed someone (a bit fuzzy on the episode), and Lila the bearded lady was in the episode (sans beard) about the chubby chaser who got squashed.
Yes, that’s obviously been in the story lines for a while. But Lady Heather is Grissom’s intellectual equal and can see right through him. They make a much more interesting couple. Plus all the hot, kinky sex I imagine.
This was in TV Guide a month or so ago. Take it with as large a grain of salt as you feel neccessary but…
Apparently there is an upcoming episode (they said November) which requires Grissom, Sara and Greg to go to another town and stay in a hotel. (IIRC they said it was a stakeout but I have no idea why the CSIs would be on a stakeout, not that anything like that has stopped the show before.) Greg and Grissom are sharing a room but Greg’s snoring keeps Grissom awake and he winds up in Sara’s room. Jorja Fox wouldn’t say what (if anything) happened but implied that all the Gil/Sara shippers should watch for this one.
Thanks. Yeah I heard about that. The board I mentioned has a spoiler section - a couple of the members get advance scripts from unnamed sources. They aren’t finals and they have ended up pretty different from what airs, but usually they are pretty reliable unless the writers get a wild hair up their ass and decide to change a bunch of stuff last minute.
Actually not a bad show this week, and I’m pretty demanding re CSI.
Re the Grissom-Sara vibe they tried to play that up, but for me it just doesn’t work. IMO there is an utter and complete lack of physical and mental chemistry between the two actors. I hope they don’t boink, it’d just be oogy. Lady Heather and Grissom on the other hand do have chemistry.
