CSI (January 15th) Spoilers likely

GAH!!! What was that? Where is the resolution! I guess I know what happens but JEEZ I could use some clarification on what happened.

sigh

I believe he got away with it. It seemed like they were saying there was not enough evidence to even warrant a grand jury.

Mmm, chunky human.

It seems like a lot of the episodes this year have had a really open ending. It’s beginning to annoy me a little - I mean, they stretch reality enough as it is, why not throw us a few more clear endings?

Poor Grissom needs therapy. And Lady Heather.

One question: propylene glycol? The active ingredient in Rogaine? Did he actually say that? OK, more than one question.

Mrs. Six didn’t like the resolution either. I liked it quite a bit better than most episodes. It seemed to me that it wasn’t really about the case. The case was just set up for Grissom’s speech at the end about how he regrets rejecting Sara’s advances earlier.

Yep. Well, not active. From a site called [url=http://www.propecia-pharmacy.com/rogaine-information.html]Propecia-Pharmacy*

If you’re wondering if propylene glycol is the toxic chemical in antifreeze, it isn’t. That’s ethylene glycol.

Uh, that should bePropecia-Pharmacy

I looked that up myself, asterion. I’ve no doubt that it contains propylene glycol, but I could have sworn kiddo said “active ingredient.”

I, too, was “Huh?” at the ending. The TMI was suitably TMI, but what was up with Grissom’s pensive soliloquy about work taking over your life until some sweet young thang comes along? There is NO chemistry between Grissom and Sara and I don’t know why they keep forcing it. There was more between Grissom and Lady Heather. Hell, there’s more between Grissom and Nick.

I fear this was the episode where they looked behind them and saw the shark.

:frowning:

I disagree. Grissom is the sexiest man alive, he’s an endearing boss, in a position of benevolent power over Sara. She’d be a fool not to be attracted to him. That doesn’t mean there’s mutual chemistry, and I think Sara’s lack of a social life, and her ambivalent feelings toward her own workaholic, and her emotionally needy lifestyle play as big a part in her attempted date as animal attraction.

That being said–We’ve seen Sara’s side of it. Now we’ve seen Grissom’s. Let’s hope they leave it at that.

Fuck Sara, I wanna see more Lady Heather. I think the idea of the lead in one of these plot-heavy shows having a romantic relationship iwth a BDSM bordello madam would be totally cool. Wouldn’t even have to spell things out, just have it in the background. There’s even some justification in the news … remember the weapons inspector who was a big player in the local BDSM scene?

I just wish Sara would lighten up a little. She desperately needs some social diversion, but not with Grissom.

And was the dead chick actress related to Jorja some how? It’s hard to believe that wasn’t her sister or cousin or something.

To me, the strength of the show is in the plot a la Law and Order, not in the character development. The show is not about those crazy CSI’s, but about the cases they encounter and how they solve them. Trying to throw in sexual tension and angst just bogs things down. I think it’s why Law and Order SVU got away from Stabler’s family after the first season or so. It wasn’t relevant. It’s okay to throw in tidbits now and then, like the fact that McCoy has a daughter and Benson was born as the result of a rape. But the main focus is the cases. It’s like letting your personal life get in the way of doing your job.

Now, ER was set up to focus on the doctors, with the patients being on the edges. But CSI started out as a plot driven show, and they should stay that way.

TOTALLY disagree. The strength of the show is indeed the characterization, which is why it’s a very good show while CSI: Miami sucks dead donkey scrotum. I CARE about the characters in CSI, while those in CSI: Miami are cardboard cutouts with perfect teeth.

I don’t think they don’t do personal character development well. We know Katherine has a daughter, Grissom’s mom was deaf, while Nick went to Univ of Texas (I think.) I care about the characters too, but as they relate to their work. I love Jack McCoy’s character, and the fact that we know very little about his personal life isn’t a detraction. It’s how he handles the cases and the lawyers and the politics, his work, that makes him a great character. They don’t weigh down the murder cases with Jack’s latest blind date fiasco.

That’s okay, though Rik. I know we both agree on Joan.

Crap. :smack:

Take out the second “don’t” in my first sentence.

I asked in the other CSI thread, but didn’t get an answer, so I’m asking again over here.

What was in that first Ziploc bag that Grissom pulled out of the trashcan? They were pulling out bloody rags and trash, and then pulled out that one big bloody Ziploc, looked at each other, and it cut to a commercial. When it came back, they were sorting through all the trashcans and finding body parts in the Ziplocs. Obviously, there was a body part in that first one, but I missed what it was - I thought it was just more bloody rags.
What was in that first Ziploc?

And as I mentioned in the other thread, a few weeks ago we had the bloody, chewed-off neck stump in the woods, then we had the bloody, blown-to-bits ankle stumps in the car, now we have hacked-to-pieces body parts in Ziploc baggies. They’re really going for the gore this season, aren’t they?

That someone actually gets away with murder is not a bad ending every once in awhile. Shows that even though you may know who the murderer is, not every crime can be solved/proven without a doubt - which is exactly why OJ is still golfing in the low 90’s.

I had this episode pegged all wrong before I started watching it, based on the previews. I thought it was going to be a 2-parter or reoccuring storyline about a Sarah stalker, maybe someone she’d pissed off in the past. Instead, it turned out to be unresolved and the killer got away with murder.

I did like the Grissom speech at the end. I thought it gave him a little touch of humanity.

I was confused about one plot point, however. If this doctor was so skilled and clever about killing the man and woman, then why on earth would he stuff the remains in trashcans behind the house where they were easily found? If he was smart enough to flush the drains with bleach you’d think he’d be smart enough to hide the body better.

Surely the evil Rogaine-using murdering Dr. will crop up in a future episode, because I really don’t think that was an act of rage. Rage and jealousy might lead to hitting someone over the head but certainly not methodically cutting one of them them into tiny pieces and posing the other victims body in a strange way. Sounds more like the work of a deranged psychopath or serial killer.
