So… do we think Nick dies? Or is it all a big build up? If he dies, who should they get to replace him? Thoughts? Comments? Hors d’oeuvres?
Is this the Quentin Tarantino episode?
Yeah. He was on both Letterman and Conan last week promoting the show, describing in great length how the episode was inspired by a TV movie he saw in the '70s. I like Tarantino’s stuff, but I wish he would get off the kick of recycling his favorite bits from movies he saw as a kid. Well, actually I don’t mind him doing that…I just wish he would stop rambling about it ad nauseam on talk shows.
That said, I do look forward to seeing the show.
Ugh. The promos with him in that box gave me an extreme case of the willies. Seriously, talk about a nightmare. I may actually skip it so I don’t hyperventilate during it!
A few weeks ago, I read somewhere that while they were filming, they refered to the episode as “Kill Gil”.
So, Nick being buried alive, may just be a distraction for what’s really going to happen. I hope nobody gets killed off though.
I’m almost scared to watch it. With Tarantino directing it, you know it’s going to be fucked up.
Yeah that’s true. But I find it hard to believe that they’re ready to kill Grissom off. Though, with the splitting of teams, it would make almost make sense.
I dunno, I’ll be watching this Thursday.
I’m just glad that the writers made a good decision about who to put in the box–if it had been Sara, or maybe even Catherine, I’m not entirely sure I’d care.
That said, I can’t wait to see this. I’m not claustrophobic, so the scenes of Nick in the box weren’t so bad, but Grissom’s “They’re eating him alive” line gives me the wig every time I see the commercial.
Did he mention the name of the movie? Was it “83 Hours Till Dawn”? This was a book (didn’t know it was a movie, but wouldn’t be surprised) based on a true story about an heiress (I think her last name was Mackle) who was kidnapped and buried alive. They got her out safely, but that book gave my grade-school self some serious oogies. I immediately thought of the story when I saw the preview.
Tunneling zombies!
You got to admit, it would be unexpected.
Zombies to Nick: “So, you’re not creeped out by dead people huh? We’ll show ya’.”
The (made for TV) movie was The Longest Night. Tarantino said it was based on a true story, I think you pegged it.
When does this come on? I don’t watch CSI, but I’m a huge Tarantino fan and wouldn’t mind checking it out.
So. Very. Stoked. To see this!
Tomorrow night, 8 p.m., CBS.
Thursday from 7:00-9:00p.m. (central)
Nick ain’t gonna die…
although with his salary negotiation antics at the beginning of the season, a fate worse than death for an actor (unemployment) almost befell him.
In a recent article on the Quentin season finale, it seems everybody wanted to be the one buried alive, but they picked Nick because he is more the outcast of the group and they wanted the season to wrap up with him being more a part of the group in the aftermath of the serious incident. I think I read this on MSNBC a few days ago, but I can’t the link now.
DMark, a comment with regard to your spoiler:
Nick is considered an outcast? Really? If anyone is an outcast with the group, and in need of being “included,” I would have picked Greg. He’s still a newbie in the field, and seems somewhat hesitant and unsure of himself. Brass had a great line in the season opener when he (Greg) and Grissom showed up at a crime scene together where Brass was waiting for them. He said, “Gil, you got something on your shoe. Oh, it’s just Greg.”
He kept begging to be let out in the field in previous season, and everyone just laughed it off, and now they all seem to give him a hard time since he is out in the field.
I found that link to the article I mentioned in my spoiler.
Do not click and read link unless you want to know (a little too much?) about the upcoming Thursday season finale!

YOU deserve to be buried alive for that horrible horrible pun.
I was just thinking the same thing … beware of tunneling zombies.
