No, I don’t remember that-what happened?
Sounds like he must have something REALLY embarassing on the boss or something.

This is a bit meanspirited, but oh well. Another way to react to him when he is particularly nasty smelling - in any part of the office you encounter him - is as he gets near: recoil, curl your lip, hold your nose, exclaim loudly “Ewwww! Someone must have stepped in something that smells positively awful!” Then make a big deal of checking the bottom of your shoes and announcing that you haven’t stepped in anything. If you can get your cow-orkers in the habit of doing this exact same thing as well…

Yes, I realize he probably won’t catch a clue. But it might be fun…
ivylass: Do you think I’d (or any of my other coworkers) would really have a shot at it due to him being a really annoying git?
Guin: Computerpoo
Vevila: It might have interesting side-effects considering that I still believe he was the offending party in ‘Computerpoo’.
Stick a dartboard on your door, inside your office.
When you hear him coming, get out the darts. Be “cocking your arm to throw one” as he opens the door and “catch yourself” on the follow-through.
“Yikes! My gosh, Chuckles, you could have gotten a dart right in the eye! Knock first, dammit!”
Note, I am not advocating the actual throwing of darts in your office. He wouldn’t need to know that, however.
There was a question about a drop in person in our local business answer column. They advised pretending to be glad to see him and handing him work immediately whenever he dropped in. “You’d be the perfect person to do this. . .”
It doesn’t sound like you could get much work out of him, though. Would it have any chance of avoidance training him?
Regarding the doors, any hardware store can sell you a small bolt that you can asily install on the inside of your door. Then keep it bolted, and don’t open the door to him.
If he complains to your boss, and the boss comes to talk to you about it, that gives you another opportunity to explain to him how this person is interfering with you getting your work done.

I’m sure my boss wouldn’t mind me drilling holes in his doors. That’s definitely not something that would get me into serious trouble.
Doesn’t your door lock have a catch that prevents it being unlocked from the outside? I’ve never seen a Yale-style lock that doesn’t, and with mortice locks you can simply leave your key in.
Well, he’s not just annoying, is he? He’s offensive to the senses, interrupts your work, won’t leave when you ask him to, and has harassed you by repeatedly asking you out.
In other words, he’s impairing your ability to work efficiently. Talk to your boss again. Tell him how CaTC is affecting your job functions, and ask that something be done, or ask if you can handle the matter yourself.
