Cube

Who here has seen the movie Cube?
I believe that it is one of the coolest movies out there. The best part is at the end when…(hesitates reaveling ending to those poor souls not yet fortunate enough to have witnessed it’s awesomness.)
I ask because of the movie thread floatin’ around recently. Odd, though, I forgot to mention this movie in that thread.

You mean that movie with those people and the rooms and the traps and the acid (ewww) and the numbers and that guy that likes gumballs (but not the red ones) and that dude that goes crazy and the smart chick who’s actually not smart enough because the guy that likes gumballs unexpectedly saves the day? I think I might have seen part of it… :stuck_out_tongue:

YES! But it’s actually gumdrops, but not gumballs, but yes, he didn’t like the red ones.

If you really think about it-- I mean, really think about it, that movie was probably cheap as hell to make. A handful of mostly unknown actors/actresses, two square rooms, lights, and a few colored screens make up the set. Add in some special effects and, Voila!, you have Cube. It’s still a good movie though.

Yes I have seen the movie. Interesting ending. I thought it was a cool movie but not the coolest. I reserve that right for Pi. (I have something for math movies with a great electronic soundtrack)

I like the idea that the movie is entirely within the Cube. There is no resolution about why they are in there. It symbolizes how our lives are a series of survivlist adventures where we only have a matter of moments to get in the right room to escape, where death is but a booby trap away, and we are forced to solve rooms with a bunch of strangers with the appropriate skills for the job.

Or maybe not.

My girlfriend is a rabid fan of “Cube.” I love obscure movies, but I haven’t gotten around to that one yet. Is it a must-see?

Anyone seen “Corn Dog Man?”

“Didja git them blue britches I sent ye, Daddy?”

Woo!

Yep. It’s pretty interesting.

I remember watching this on Halloween night a couple of years ago. I’d rented it because i thought the cover looked interesting. It was. I enjoyed it, but i really don’t have much of anything to say about it, other than that it really looked like something you’d expect to see on Bravo.

Silver: according to IMDB, it had a budget of $365,000. Cheap, but not too cheap. Still 10 times more than the Blair With Project cost, and about 50x more than El Mariachi. Actually a good deal more than i expected it cost.

Own it on DVD, with the commentary and all. The filmmakers tried to make as many “sixes” as possible; there were, of course, six people (if we discount the initial victim who wasn’t in the “group”). They wanted six different colors for the rooms too, but I believe they ended up with only four (red, blue, white, and “straw”).

Low budget is right; the commentary says they had only one working door. Still, mighty cool movie.

In case anyone is interested, I wrote a little review of Cube on my page, here: http://pw1.netcom.com/~heliboy/reviews.htm#cube

I have never seen the movie, but has anyone heard of the game cube? It’s kind of a mind reading thing. It’s oddly intersting.
