Cue Weird Al- I lost on Jeopardy!

Ok- today, June 13, 2001, the episode of Jeopardy I was in aired. I’m the slightly frustrated looking guy in the middle.

Damn you Alex Trebek! Damn you to Hell!!!

blanx

You got the houseboat trip to Nevada, did you? Better than those trips to beautiful wartorn Indonesia they used to give away, I guess.

Congratulations blanx. you get a cookie. Actually, I went to Washington DC for my 8th grade field trip 3 years ago (jeez I feel young) and our tour was on Wheel of Fortune. Dumbest man alive on that show I tell you. we all watched it on the TVs (He had a tape of it)…My gosh, the man asked for a “V” when there wernt 3 letters up. I mean come on! how many words out there really do have "V"s in there compared to the (still not taken) E’s…ok. I’m done, and done with the parenthases (I think thats spelled right. ack. nevermind)

So blanx, what happened? I didn’t see the episode (obviously), how did it go?

blanx, I didn’t see the episode either, and would also like to know what happened!

you lucky shit! that’s my favorite show. i’ll confess to being a little addicted to trivia, but i’m willing to bet there’s alot of that going around on this board… -cm

You rang?

Whoah! Bummer, dude. Sorry I missed it.

It took me a few months to get over it, seeing that five-figure payoff almost literally fluttering away in the breeze, and that the whole trip had been at my expense. I was barely able to be polite to the crew handing me the bag of goodies as they hustled me back to the Green Room. The worst part was hearing Alex go over the thought process by which the Final Jeopardy answer is arrived at, during the end-of-show chat with the contestants - for anyone wondering if he’s really as supercilious as he seems on TV, the answer is yes.

Better luck on Millionaire - it’s easier and has a bigger payoff.

Bummer, man, but at least you made it. I took the test once and didn’t. Next time I’m in L.A. I’ll make a point of trying again…there just aren’t all that many tryouts in NYC.

I’m with you, Elvis. Having to foot my own bill to LA really chapped my ass. Plus, Alex T. is a wanker. They wheel him out after every game with a new suit on.

Actually, I guess I acquitted myself pretty well- I wound up in second, with the aforementioned trip to sunny radiation soaked Nevada. The guy who beat me I think went on to win again, so he was a 5 time champ. I actually had the lead for a while, at the end of the game, and was only $700 behind him before Final Jeopardy.

Now, bring on Regis! (although I gotta wait a year before doing that show)

You do realize they were doing tryouts in NYC this month right? (seriously).

Tough loss blanx. Good show, though.

Dude, that so rocks that you got on the show! It’s awesome to even be on it! Good deal! If I were you, just the fact that I was even on it would be enough to totally make my year! Way to go!!

Congrats! Getting ON that show is hard enough…

My mom was on back in 1994. Unfortunately, she ended up playing agains this other woman who was on her fifth show. In other words, she was on a major roll. Even Mom doesn’t hold a grudge, Amy was blowing them all out of the water. Clearly she outclassed the rest of the contestants for the day. I still remember the sick feeling I got when I saw Mom going up on stage to put her name on the podium…if they’d only have not pulled her name for that particular one, who knows?

But she ended up tying for second and won a trip to Ireland. Also a case of Werther’s Original. A CASE. I never want to eat that stuff again!
