Culture shock and reunion adventures: it's the MMP!

Can I have all three?

My ads are for chocolate, but I’ve been bad enough on chocolate lately. Publix had “buy one get one free” bags of dark chocolate M&Ms right at the front door the other day. Of course dark chocolate M&Ms don’t taste like real dark chocolate, but it is better than none at all.

Swampy, the city council tries not to let it be known when they are going to discuss the ice rink. It’s harder to admit they don’t listen to the voters when the voters are actually in the room with them. I’ve already written my letter to the editor, and am going to try to work for anyone running against anyone now in office. Season before last, when the Snakes won the league championship, the City refused to give them a parade because we didn’t give them two weeks notice. If we had given two weeks notice and hadn’t actually won the championship (because, y’know, we didn’t know for sure in advance that we’d win) we would have been billed for wasted time. I hate this city and the broken down spavined mule it rode in on.

On a more positive note, one of the local craft stores has called to let me know my glaze has arrived. I am going to get it this afternoon.

Oddly, I have fundraising ideas. I guess I’m supposed to sell that dark chocolate?

And speaking of dark chocolate, I finally found that delicacy I’ve heard about but had failed to find for several years now – dark chocolate M&Ms! Between those and the white chocolate M&Ms that I stocked up on (a promo for the latest Pirates movie – “pearls,” don’tcha know), I’m in M&M heaven here.

pugs, if your doggie has three functioning brain cells, that’s at least two more than our Rusty (idiot golden retriever) has. I love that dog, but he seriously has a case of Teh Dumb like I have never seen. But he also has no shame about it, so he acts dumb, we laugh at him, and he’s very proud because we MUST love him if we’re laughing at him! He has no concept of “good attention” vs. “bad attention.” Attention = love, right?

All these people diligently working. Yuck. Something I should be doing myself, but I’ve got a serious case of the Don’t Wannas today. Let’s see, what else can I do to not work?

There are white chocolate M&Ms???

I have a quest.

Jinx, SnakesCatLady!

Oh, and Drae, the white chocolate M&Ms aren’t as good as other white chocolate, but still, they’re white chocolate M&Ms, who needs more? (Other than dark chocolate, obviously.) Apparently our drugstore bought a big stock of them and they haven’t moved, so they’ve still got a big pile on the shelf. So every time I go in, I check, and since they still have them, of course I have to buy a couple more bags. Because they might be gone the next time, right?

I’m bored and don’t feel like doing housework before work. I think I’ll go wander around. After dessert.

Did you have to say the H word, Lissla? I’m trying very hard not to think about it. Even though the vacuum is calling to me, and both bathrooms are in need of a good cleaning. I hate, hate, HATE housework…

MamaT, Golden Retrievers are the blonds of the dog world, don’tcha know. But I swear to you, look up stoopit in the dictionary and there will be a picture of Isa. good thing dogs don’t chew gum cause she’d have a hell of a time walkin.

You’re absolutely right. Rusty’s totally a blond, even though he’s actually a redhead. But his heart is blond!

Hey SnakesCatLady - does your team ever fly to their games? 'Cause then they’d be Snakes on a Plane!!! Ha! I crack myself up!

I have a severe addiction to M&M’s. But white chocolate is icky - I think I’ll pass. I buy two bags of M&M’s every week or so - one plain, one peanut. My family helps me eat them, I swear! I haven’t had any dark chocolate ones for a while. Mmm - dark chocolate… <swoon>

Stepping up to the plate in Spats absence is… :stuck_out_tongue:

Snakes contact the Attorney General’s office in Etlanner about the use of SPLOST funds. Apparently that is one of the things Thurbert Baker (the state AG) looooooves to get all up in the air about. If you can get the L-E interested in pursuing a story on the SPLOST funds for the ice rink that’d stir up some stuff. Or, stand in front of the gummit center with a hockey stick and a big sign saying, “We Want Ice!” Ok, that last one might not help so much but it’d be fun to see.

ok - the ads I have right now are 3 for chocolate (Hershey’s Dark, PBKisses, & ‘Chocolate of the Month’ Club) and “Free Ice Hockey Skates”
all together now “one of these things is not like the other . . .”
White Chocolate may not really be chocolate (having no cocoa liquer in it) but is yummy nonetheless. And when I have the choice between darkC and milkC - I always choose darkC

Another drive-by… I gotta change then head out for torture, er, therapy. Don’t you wish you had my exciting life??

I don’t go to movies and have no interest in that one, so I’ve already decided the only “Snakes on a Plane” I’m interested in are when our guys start flying back for hockey season!

I got my glaze, and another pack of beads. (I was there, and so were the beads, and I couldn’t help it. I stopped by MickeyD’s for a salad for the first and last time. I’m not sure what the grilled thing on top of the greens actually was, but it did not taste anything remotely like chicken. I probably don’t want to know what it was.

It was pouring down rain when I got home, and Mr. SCL met me at the Jeep with an umbrella. Wasn’t that sweet?

Hi everybody! I feel like I’m letting my MMP membership slide, and that makes me sad. :frowning: It’s just gotten so busy at work!! I’m going crazy. I haven’t even read what everyone else has said. :frowning: So I hope everyone’s doing well. Congrats, I’m sorry, wishes, thoughts, etc. to those who need them.

So here’s what’s been keeping me busy. Saturday our new bedroom set finally arrived. We got the mattress about 2 months ago and have been sleeping with it on the floor ever since. Not too much of a problem except that I always store stuff under the bed and all that crap got put in the office, making it a disaster area. So the new bedroom set led to a much neater and more organized apartment. This leads to happy taxi.

Sunday we went to Ikea to pick up shelves and stuff to continue the organizing and stuff. They have such decent stuff for so cheap there. But boy, what a madhouse! I really don’t like going any more than I have to even though I do like their stuff.

Monday was an early flight to Cary, NC for work. I was sooooo tired all afternoon during our meetings. We did a lot though and it was generally a successful time. I got to see my ex-bf (with whom I’m still friends if you haven’t been keeping up) Monday night for a little while so that was fun.

Tuesday was more meetings and then an attempt to get back home… yeah, that’s where things started going wrong. Charlotte was closed due to storms. So that meant our originally scheduled flight was going to be too late to catch the connecting flight. So after figuring out that they couldn’t route us through Philly, they put us on NW (we were supposed to fly with USAir) on their direct flight. Which is really cool since we’d wanted to go on that flight but it was >$1000 per person as opposed to the ~$400/person that we paid for USAir.

So we thought we were all set… until we got to the NW gate and saw lots of people standing in line. The reason we got on the flight is that everyone else was trying to get off! The sign over the gate said the delays (estimated at that point to be 2 hours) were due to “taxiway congestion.” Um… what??

Well… we found out the answer to that question was that the president was appearing at a fundraiser here in Mpls. Which basically screwed up both the highways at rush hour and the airport. And lots of people’s connecting flights. There were a lot of unhappy people. Who were all trying to get off that flight as we were trying to get on. I think we confused the gate agent when we said we wanted to take that flight after all the people he’d been talking to who wanted to take any flight other than that one.

But anyway, it turned out to be the right choice. We would have missed the connection in Charlotte, and in the end, we got in at the same time we were scheduled to get in on the Charlotte flight if that one hadn’t been delayed. So that was good. But unfortunately our luggage still headed for Charlotte and hasn’t been seen since. Oh well.

Anyway, that’s what’s keeping me from reading the MMP. I’ll try to catch up soon!

That was sweet Snakes Mr. SCL deserves a special treat. I will leave it up to the two of you to determine what that might be.

I just spent an hour negotiating a price for fiberglass mophandles with <snerk> plastic heads. <snerk> Can life get anymore exciting than that! Oh wait, yes it can! I am now looking at pricing for chamois mops, which ain’t as easy as it sounds.

-swampbear (Somehow I have turned into the Mop King for the stage of Jawja)

now the ads are the same 3 chocolate ads, plus instead of hockey, it’s “Save Marine Life”

Ok, off to get coiffed. When next I post I’ll be all beautified. Ok, my hair will be cut half an inch all over, trimmed at the ears and my eyebrows will be trimmed up. I’m at my prettiest then. Don’t judge me!

::Pictures swampy dancing across the stage with a mop::

Hi, I’m home early today. But still have to do some work.

I think I had to do the road test 3 times before I actually passed. I know I ran a stop sign on the first test. Can’t remember what happened the second. Once I passed, driving wasn’t an issue any more.

I see the saga of the annoying co-worker continues, Jahdra. I never understand why so many people feel they’re entitled to demand seating locations. On the one hand, it would be nice to be offered options for where you want to sit; on the other, unless you’re in charge, you’ve chosen to comp;ly with your wrokplace’s practices…

OK…for some reason, I’m falling asleep.

Nap, then clean-up, then water plants, then go to library.
