Current avatar

For feces and yuks I looked into the two bon vivants gracing my current avatar (the painfully-smiling “I’d rather be a Russian than a Democrat”-t-shirted gentlemen). Buddy on right apparently croaked in hospice not five months after the photo taken, at a rally for Donnie in Lewis Center, Ohio. Sometimes an absence of something can speak volumes, and if your obit gives nothing but statistical info, like his, it at least gets you wondering.
As for buddy on left (James Timothy “Tim” Alicie - whoa, edgy nickname), well:

From this article:

That’s a very endearing, no, defiant! photo of them in those durned Russkie hats.

Around here trump flags, banners, and signs are slowly proliferating. Odds are our county will go Harris, but the MAGAts are here too. And increasingly demonstrative.

Whenever I see a trumpnut proudly displaying their grift-merch all I can think of is Bill Engvall from Blue Collar Comedy Tour. And his ongoing shtick about people being idiots to which his tag line is “Here’s your sign”.

Yup. The surest way to identify a drooling moron is his (occasionally her) big trump sign.

Here’s your “I’m an idiot” sign indeed.

good one.

Around here, there’s a guy with huge Trump flags flying from his car, driving back and forth through what’s possibly the bluest municipality in the nation. He’s certainly hoping for a confrontation.

The last time I saw him, someone I was with pointed out that it was, in fact, a man driving the car, and one of the flags said “Women for Trump”.

In our rural/small town area we see only trump signs. The thing is, when I talk with locals who seem to share my values, they tell me that they do not display Harris/Walz signs out of fear.

I live in a red county in a mostly blue state. There’s Trump crap everywhere, but last weekend, there was a whole group at one of the bigger intersections waving Harris/Walz signs. So there’s some here braver than I.

Of course, I’ve never ever, regardless of where I lived, displayed any political signs or bumper stickers. I put that in the same category as religion - I’d rather not share with strangers, because you never know what the reaction will be.

We have jokingly discussed putting up lawn signs for Harris/Walz, Biden, Obama, etc. but why do it when nobody would ever see it? Our property is totally isolated.

We have someone near us with their house wrapped up in Trump flags and banners like a right-wing Christo installation. I told my wife that I half-wished we lived next door so I could put up a sign saying “This is weird, right?”

I wouldn’t worry about putting a Harris sign in my lawn except that I’m in Illinois and the Harris campaign probably has better things to spend money on that signs for my lawn. I remember, during the Obama campaign, they were asking people not to request signs unless you were in a red/swing state because they didn’t have enough for every yard in New York.

I live in Greater Suburbia but spend weekends in rural areas & drive thru cities to get there. There are waaay more Trump signs, & large Trump signs than there are Harris signs out there. Maybe because the typical R is more likely to live in rural areas & have multiple buildings on their property, including barns on their farm. I’ve seen lots of barns with Trump messages on painted on the side but don’t think I’ve ever seen a D candidate’s name on the side of a building.

Driving there this weekend, I drove past three neighbors with a bunch of lawn signs, the first had a Trump lawn sign, along with the lower lackeys candidates. The middle one had Harris & the lower offices (AG, US rep, etc.) goons while the third guy had three (different) signs for a contractor; kind of get the feeling it was his house as I drove by. Based upon the lawn signs alone, I’m voting for the roofer/siding guy!

I don’t remember how I got it but the last election I proudly had a Mondale lawn sign in my window, & a neighbor had a La Petomane/Lamarr for president sign on his lawn. I asked him where he got it as I really wanted one of those & couldn’t find one online; his buddy made it for him.

Maybe he’s trying to collect some? They’re getting grabbed by his posse.

I’d still vote for Thor Michaelson. His platform was solid, easy to understand, and based on real concerns and a commitment to service:

That was six years ago, which is 42 dog years. Hope Thor is still okay, because he is clearly the Good Boy America Needs.,

I have actually seen one of these around too during the current campaign season:

Saw the first Trump sign in my neighborhood–for the house right beside the one with multiple Harris signs. (The only other political sign is one for a local Democrat in someone’s window.) It seems like they had to make it bigger than the other signs, though.

Not sure I can blame them entirely, though. I mean, sure, I blame them for putting a sign just after the Haitian stuff. But one of their neighbor’s signs was close enough it looked like it could have been theirs.

I don’t blame them for putting up a sign. Just for putting up a Trump one at this point.
