Current Jeopardy Champ

No more than usual (one category of it per round).

The main thing is that her Daily Double strategy went the other way; she lost $11,000, I believe, on wrong answers.

Finally!

Joe

At the end of the first round, either the final question or 2nd to last, she hit the Daily Double, bet $4000 of her $4200ish and got it wrong, leaving her $4000 behind the leader.

At the end of the second round, she hit the second Daily Double as the very last square on the board. She was behind by I THINK about $4000, she bet $8000, and got it wrong, answering very hastily.

That put her out of it and I changed the channel and wept to myself.

Actually, in her first appearance, she did remarkably well when it came to identifying the states in which various TV shows were set. So in some respects at least, she handles pop culture quite well.

Dang. Why can’t I meet anyone with her combination of cutes and smarts?

I watched Larissa’s losing effort this morning, and was struck by two very bad moves.

First was by the guy who eventually won – as soon as he got control, he instantly dove into the “College Football Coaches” category. Since he ran it, it’s safe to assume that he felt strongly about the category. So why would you go after that first? Doesn’t it make more sense to save that for later and try to make money in other categories, in the hopes that the Daily Double will be in your strong suit?

But the one that had me yelling at the TV was Larissa’s boneheaded Daily Double wager at the end of the match. She basically handed the guy his runaway. It would be one thing if the third competitor was still in striking distance – then she’d have a chance even if she got her DD wrong. But to let your entire game ride on one question…argh…very bad move.

Now, if she were in a situation where a correct answer would have given her the runaway, then I’d see the logic there – you’re putting it all on the line on one question that you have to yourself. Get it right, and you’ll win…get it wrong, and you’ll lose. But she put herself in a situation where if she got it right, and maybe she’d win…get it wrong, and she’ll lose. Foolish…

Everybody’s favorite Champion from the past year is back.

Tournament of Champion’s style…

Spoiled for anybody who records it for later

She wins in an almost runaway. She was the only one to know Final Jeopardy though.

Roll on Quiet Assassin!!

I know this is one of the older posts, but…

You’ve got to play to your strong suits first, or risk that one of the other contestants will hit their strong suit before you, and maybe never let you get control of the board. Sure, if you’re going for the theoretical maximum possible dollar value, you’d get the best chance of hitting that by saving your specialty for dessert, but you also stand a very good chance of getting nothing, that way.

Is it just me or are the Las Vegas podiums much shorter than the usual ones? It seems like all I saw tonight was Larissa maniacally ringing her buzzer and glaring at whoever rang in before her. It kind grated after a while.

But, the lady is smart.
