Hopefully they won’t name the kid Green Bay.
Am I only one who flashed back to the movie Diner, with its Baltimore Colts-themed wedding?
I was lucky enough to attend a Star Wars themed wedding. The vows of which were: “I love you” — “I know” (Teehee).
It was an awesome wedding. So I vote: Not creepy at all.
Basing life decisions around sportsball is creepy, but they can do whatever the hell they want.
I don’t think it’s creepy, but since I’m not a football fan, I thought it was idiotic. It’s still more or less a free country - each to his own.
I voted for cute.
That sounds cute, not creepy, to me.
Oh, thank gawd; her last name is Packer. For a minute, I thought her given name was Packer.
It’s a dumb reason to marry someone, but not a dumb reason just to ask someone out. Was his pick-up line “I’m a Packers fan; I’d love to marry you so we could be ‘The Packers.’” That is not the worst pick-up line I have ever heard.
I’m assuming that some time passed between him happening to meet Miss Packer, and the two of them deciding to get married.
For me it’s kind of a “whatever.”
I vote for vaguely weird, but I am biased because I don’t understand the enthusiasm for sports.
If it was a Star-Wars themed wedding and they were going to be the Solos, I probably wouldn’t bat an eye.
It’s not so much as a judgment as ''I probably have nothing in common with these people." It’s also hard to imagine being that obsessed with something. My husband is a huuuuuuge X-Men fan but he wouldn’t have an X-Men themed wedding. You just have to have a special sort of personality for that.
I really don’t care, but I voted “cute” because I’ve seen way too many sports-themed weddings to think twice about them.
The fact that the groom wore a traditional suit to the wedding actually shows remarkable restraint to me.
I went cute. Now if some Steelers fan had done it, off with both their heads. But for the Packers its just fine and dandy.
That and we had neighbors named Packer when I was little; good folks.
So is this solely about the husband taking the wife’s name in the name of sports fandom? Because themed weddings are no big deal these days.
Not creepy. Tacky maybe? I love my NFL team as much as the next guy but I would never theme my wedding around it, or anything else made for profit.
He decided to date and marry a woman named “Packer.” He cites her last name as how he knew she was the one. I totally get why people would find it obsessive.
I just don’t find harmless obsessions creepy. But I don’t find it cute, either. For me, that word is reserved is either visual, or describes a youthful or childlike attitude (which is not necessarily a bad thing), and I don’t see likings sports as that. To put it another way, nothing about this makes me say “Aww!”
I guess I’ll go with the final answer, but my real answer is “It’s nice that he found someone who loves him even with his obsession.” So I’m happy for him.
It’s neither cute nor creepy. It’s a mite weird, but not creepy. I’ve seen stranger reasons that two people clicked than ‘awesome last name!’
Tacky definitely.
Kind of childish but it’s not hurting anybody.
You want to be called Little Piper?
It’s cute, unless his first name is Alferd.
Not creepy, just stupid. The couple deserve each other. Just glad they’re not our neighbors.
That’s pretty much my feeling about this. Actually, about themed-weddings in general, sports or otherwise.
