I found it much more human and sweet and believable than I anticipated. Thumbs up!

I liked it too. Hard to go wrong just throwing those 3 actors together, IMO.
I liked it too. The first time I’ve really seen Jonah Hill act.
I think the ads are slightly misleading. They make the movie look darker than it really is.
I liked it too. I was really, really glad to see John C Reilly back in a serious role. I loved him in Chicago, Magnolia and Boogie Nights, but then sort of gave up on him over the last few years. He’s really good at these ‘real people’ type roles.
Anyways, I thought the way he met Molly was a bit forced and I really got annoyed with the odd zooming and non-steadi cam work, but other then that it was a good movie. Nothing I’m gonna run out and rent again, but I’m not looking for my last 90 minutes back.
I have to admit, in the last scene, when John finally called out Cyrus on all his BS, I was worried Cyrus was going to be recording it* as a final FU to John, just to put one more nail in the coffin and make sure all his hard work stuck. That would have ruined the movie for me.
*Now that I think about it, editing the tape would have played in nicely with his ability to mix music. In fact, it would have given the whole music thing a reason for having to be part of the movie.
I thought it was very well done and they did a very good job of making her interest in him believable, because he is absolutely not a physically appealing man. But she overheard him give his “honest” speech and was drawn to him for that reason. She saw into him in a way a more conventional type of meeting wouldn’t have permitted.
