D-Backs win! D-Backs win!

Man, I was expecting pain when Gonzo came to the plate.

BUT HE CAME THROUGH!!!
Man, I feel good!

Yes. I love the Braves. But I always root for any team playing the Yankees (unless it’s the Mets . . . ugh). So I rooted for the Diamondbacks almost with the fervor I reserve for the Braves.

Good show, Yankees. Pity it didn’t do the job:)

Oh well, even us Yankee fans know that nothing lasts forever. The Diamondbacks were good, and deserved to win. My only regrets are:

  1. It’s d damn shame that the Big Puss, Randy Johnson, has a World Series ring. There is NO player I respect less than the Big Putz. Everyone who saw what a classless crybaby he was in his last season in Seattle knows what I’m talking about. The 1919 Chicago White Sox tried harder to win the World Series than Johnson tried to win ANY game during his final season in Seattle.

That scumbag deliberately threw games in order to force a trade. And the tragic thing is, he got his way. AMAZING, isn’t it, how his pitching abilities magically returned as soon as he was out of Seattle? In any case, the Big Whiner got his gazillions of dollars AND a ring. Sad.

  1. There are many people who don’t care much about the Diamondbacks, but who cheered for them simply because they hate the Yankees. The funny thing is, the Diamondbacks ARE everything Yankee haters wrongly think the Yankees are!

Yankee haters THINK the Yankees are a team with a megalomaniac owner who tries to buy the pennant. In reality, the Yankees’ best players were developed through their farm system, and Steinbrenner has kept a low profile over the last 5 years. On the other hand, Jerry Colangelo IS a megalomaniac who bought the pennant (Arizona’s farm system didn’t produce any players of note- ALL their stars were high-priced free agents.)

I concur, as probably the only other true Yankees fan in this forum…I think if they put Mussina in for a few out instead of jumping to Rivera so fast they could have won. Rivera just ran out of steam. Besides, anyone who follows the Yanks knows that there are 2 people who should be good, but almost never come through when they need to: Paul O’Neill (I’m SO glad that ass-hole is retiring) and Mariano Rivera. Sure, Rivera is THE BEST ever post-season reliever, by the numbers. But really, he’s only good for 3 outs MAX! not 7. Oh well, hindsight is 20/20.

Still one of the best series/games I have ever seen.

Thinking about it, my favorite teams seem to suck in up in championships play. The devils got routed too, even though by games won the series with Colorado was close, but in reality, it was like the Yankees getting MASSIVELY outscored in their losses and BARELY squeaking by on their wins. Sigh

2 unlikely comebacks for the Yankees in the ninth, One unlikely comeback for the Diamondbacks in the ninth. And yet we win!!!

Schilling is a class act. Did you see him hugging Kim. Also in his acceptance speach for MVP he remembered to first give respect to the opposing team.

Did I miss it or did the opposing managers not shakes hands at the end. Torre and Brenly both should have made sure that happened and that it happened on national TV.

Yeah, you’re right…I mean, come on, the Yankees only one 4 of the last 6 World Series. Your favorite teams are always screwing up.

Try being an Indians fan for a while.

I think I’m the opposite of iampunha. I like the Yankees, but I’m in favor of any team that is playing against the Braves.

I don’t really care that the Yankees lost, though. It’s not like they haven’t won lately.

I’m glad the Diamondbacks were home to win it. That’s always nice.

No thanks…I also follow the Chicago Bulls and Dallas Cowboys[sub] Can’t you tell I started liking sports in 1995? [/sub] so I know your pain of SUCKY teams…well, lately. Like the Cowboys today…man that was bad.

FUCK THE YANKEES!!! D backs win. Hell yeah.

My favorite Curt Schilling story is that one of his all-time favorite movies is “Strange Brew” and that he’s been known to talk exclusively in dialogue from the movie at times.

Don’t forget, Schilling also plays Everquest, making him doubly cool. I’m gonna have to log onto his server and congratulate him. I’m sure he came right home to log on, Sunday is a big day for dragon raids.

<looks around to make sure none of her fellow NY-ers are looking>

WOOHOO!!!

Damn that was a good game!

<slinks back into hiding>

Happy that the Yanks lost, but I can’t gloat too much . . . that was one HELL of a game. That was the first World Series game I’ve watched in several years, and it was a great one.

Way to go D’Backs!!

The reason Yankee-haters hate the Yankees has very little to do with where they get their players. We hate the Yankees for the simple reason that they are the Yankees. We don’t really care who the owner is or how he acts, either. Long after Steinbrenner is dead and gone, and even if the Yankees have a team full of home-grown all-American boys, Yankee-haters will still hate them.
