Since I don’t have my character sheet handy, and won’t for a couple days since I won’t be home until Sunday at the earliest, I’ll see what Bitur would be interested in then.
Having just left Rohan on his Quest to Rid the World of Evil, Hraedsig is not overly eager to return just yet. I don’t have time at the moment to give it the thought it deserves, but should soon. Off the top of my head, he’s happy to travel with T & G, as long as the PDAs are kept to a minimum
Hraedsig is definitely interested in this item. Alternately or in addition, upgrades to sword, shield and armor are always welcome, but again I can’t research it right now (opening in 4 hours!!!). He should also take some of his share in gold/silver, so he can tithe. Is it 15% Can’t remember…
They can easily offer you a War Shield, Axe and Bolt upgrades if you like.
You have two different +1 axes and a +1 War shield. We can work on upgrading all three. It looks like you are OK on bolts.
If this is interesting to you, do you prefer the Dwarven Axe or the Battle Axe get the bigger upgrade?
What are PDAs?
Tithe = 10% by the book, more is allowed and good memory on that.
They can easily upgrade your Sword, War Shield, Lance, Armor or even Barding. The Elfstone is a very good fit for you.
Public displays of affection.
And I make no promises!
I wouldn’t pitch that Invisibility ring down a well, I have to say. Alternatively, are there any skilled instrument-makers who might improve my harp for me while I am studying (or does anyone already have one they are prepared to offer)? I’m now getting to the point where a torqued-up instrument would be useful.
OK, then Ghân is desperately keen to have the Wolfskin Cloak (would shapeshift with a shapeshifter and provides +3 protection (AC & Saves) It does not work with metallic armors at all.), especially because he has wooden armour.
He’s thinking of going for these shapes:
Golden Eagle (bird)
Otter (mammal)
Snake* (reptile)
*can it be poisonous?
Can Otters cast spells with Somatic components?
Can Chimpanzees cast spells with Somatic components?
If not, then the only Druid spell without a Somatic component is Faerie Fire.
I thought Ghan disliked poison?
OK, no new cloak, then. What about boots, and at what prices would I be able to buy the potions mentioned?
Oh, my, yes, I’d love any alchemical supplies that are left over. They could be sent either to my family home in Edoras or my uncle’s outside of town. King Eomer* hinted at a a position as court wizard for me, eventually, so that’s definitely where I’d want them sent.
*Eomer dies this fall, doesn’t he? It was he that we spoke to in Edoras, not his son Elfwine, right?
Thanks for the def.
There are some harps that would aid your Sleep/Charm ability in Rivendell. But the Ring is of course an entire share or more so. The Harps could be combined with other things like more arrows or better swords or the like or possibly some spell enhancers.
The snake could be almost any type of snake you like.
The Otter may eventually be able to cast some spells but the vocalized spells are tough.
A Chimp could cast anything, but I am not sure what advantage a chimp gives. A strong climber? Might be of some use. Could you elaborate please?
Elven Boots are about it, figure a +1 to AC and faster foot speed when not burdened and moving quieter and without much trace. The Alchem Lab would be considered a big part of your share to go with the Brazier. It is some very valuable stuff and they are willing to pack and deliver it for you. Éomer does die shortly, in fact he has passed. But both Éomer and Elfwine were willing to support you if you are willing to become the Wizard of Rohan.
I think all Mulligan really needs to stock up on are bullets.
If Elfstan is returning home to rest and no longer requires it, I will be happy to give a part share towards buying his magic thieves tools from him.
How does that Ring of Invisibility work?
The burrahobbit could have the ring, then (which I quite understood to be a whole share), and the idea of a nice harp plus some other minor items sounds very appealing. My +1 swords are starting to get left behind now so if any upgrades are available I’d certainly consider that.
While I think about it, am I now switching over to the bard’s experience table or do you have your own system? It may affect my decision as to what items to ask for.
(I think the attraction of a chimpanzee from glee’s POV is that it has tool-using hands and is much stronger than a human.)
The Ring is one of the lesser Rings and thus to some degree has a bit of Sauron’s ill-touch too it, though not his spirit. It works differently for different races but Curunauth son of Celebrimbor the Head Smith of Rivendell can tell you that it will never cause a Hobbit of your character ill. I will make you invisible to most, though don’t use it against the undead like wraiths and wights of course. It will probably heighten your hearing a bit when it is on. You do not turn visible when fighting but you do leave shadows if you are not careful.
You switch basically to the 1st Ed Bard table with a few small changes. You still get more Proficiencies but I think it is every 6 levels now. You get an Elven Sleep ability on the same scale as the Charm. I’ll review my notes later this weekend for anything else I have forgotten. (Oh, you are eligible for some/many illusionist spells casted through song and thus with a longer casting time.)
Sounds very pretty and backstab just became really easy. If we are going to pass through Rivendell, I would get it checked out by Curunauth anyway.
If pointy ears isn’t interested, I will be.
I’m so used to you getting an invisibility spell when you need it that I’d forgotten you have to get Deor to cast it for you. By all means take the ring, hairfoot; it’s a huge assist for a thief; for me it would just be nice to have. As Jim’s playing it, it’s working much like a ring of improved invisibility, which is really really powerful.
Meanwhile…
On the Bard xp table I stand to be levelling up rather rapidly. That may mean my spell ability doesn’t need much help. Even so, an instrument of some sort would be in character; if there’s enough credit left over that I can recycle my existing swords and trade up, so much the better - otherwise something in the arrow line will be fine.
Thanks tree hugger, it will come in useful.
Well, I would adore the Brazier and the Alchemistry lab. If there’s any room in my fair share left over, I’d like to get a pair of Elven boots; anything that improves my AC without interfering with spells is well worth picking up. If necessary, I’m of course willing to purchase them with what cash I have left.
OK, here are Hraedsig’s preferences, in order of desire:
- Elftstone
- Armor upgrade
- War Shield upgrade
- Sword upgrade
- Barding upgrade
- Lance upgrade
If I can get 1 & 2 with enough left over for tithing, lovely. If not, that’s OK too. Hraedsig knows that Eonwe will provide.
Thoroncir doesn’t want anything in particular. He’ll send his share of the value of the loot back to the Order of Sea-Knights.
Glad to oblige, burrow-dweller.
After Bree, would you like to cross the Barrow-Downs with me? I would enjoy the company.
Unfortunately, I should probably return to Great Smials and then possibly onwards with Elfstan towards Hobbiton.
It would not do to ask my cousin to ensure Elfstan’s safe return when I should do it myself. Unless Elfstan thinks he will be fine by himself.
Otherwise you offer is appreciated.
