"Dad, I was thinkin'...." (A Cute Kid Story)

Driving to school this morning with my 6 year old, Bryan…
Dad, I was thinkin’… ::long thoughtful pause::

Yeah, Bryan?

I wonder what it would be like if we were all born at the same time?

You mean everyone would be the same age?

Yeah…

That would be kinda’ fun, huh kiddo?

Yeah…

But if we were all babies at the same time, there wouldn’t be anyone around to take care of us, would there?

Yes there would…God would take care of us.

Just wanted to share that little story, and let you all know how happy I am being the “Dad” to my 3 great little boys.

You just never know when or in what form these great little moments are gonna hit. But you know when it happens, you wouldn’t trade your life for anything.

Paul

It sounds like you are doing a great job of teaching him faith and inquisitiveness. What a neat story.

Wow, cute story. Kids do say some incredibly interesting things sometimes. Almost makes me want to go borrow one for a few hours.

Now you just need to get him past this silly god thing.

Thanks, deb.

I knew someone would have to make that comment, obfusciatrist. But that’s really more for GD, right? Why don’t you head on over there, and I’ll be along in a few minutes, OK?

That was a bit off don’t you think **obfusciatrist?
**

No, I don’t think it was. But thank you for asking.

The other day, from the back of my minivan, my four-year-old daughter takes a break from her normal backseat driving to philosophize (?) about dining habits:

“Mom, we don’t eat trees…”

“No, honey, we don’t.”

“And we don’t eat houses…”"

“Nope”

“And we don’t eat tigers…”"

“Nope…”

“because then you get fur in your teeth.”
End of conversation.

I’m hoping you were just being contrary for sake of tongue-in-cheek humor, perhaps slightly edged, obfusciatrist. Otherwise, you were just being an ass.

Cute story, Paul.

It’s amazing how much kids understand, even when they’re young. I was watching my wedding video with my 3 girls the other day, and one of the guests was saying something on the video. This man was a member of the synagogue I grew up in, was the first adult to tell me to call him by his first name, and was a wonderful and gentle person. I realized how much I miss him (he died about 4 years ago), and before I knew it, my eyes filled up with tears. My 7 year old noticed this, and came over without a word and gave me a great hug.

Love that story, simply_cats. You know how they say creative problem-solving comes from thinking outside of the box? The great thing is that little kids have no box.

Anything and everything is possible, for whatever reason that is handy at the time.
My littlest boy Val turns 2 today. He’s the most talkative (and cutest, no, really) two-year old I have ever known. We have a great joke around our house that goes like this…

Q: How do you know Val’s awake?
A: He’s talking.

Q: How do you know Val’s asleep?
A: He’s not talking as much.

Q: How do you know Val’s eating?
A: He’s not talking at all.

Happy Birthday, VAL!
Love, Daddy

Well, it worked in rehearsal…

…Yahoo is screwin’ up and won’t bring up those Val photos…sorry.

You’ll just have to take my word for it!

Paul

I clicked on the link and when the page came up clicked on previous, it brought up a picture, and damn I have to concede,he is cute.
Happy birthday Val

Thanks eirroc, but I need to give my wife most of the credit for how good our kids look…the big brown eyes and auburn hair are all Jenn…

Not to mention tons of credit for what great kids they are (the original intent of this OP)…

I just had to pop in and say that this is really one of the greatest things I’ve heard in a long time, because it is sooooooo true! Congrats on some great-soundin kids, Paul, and happy birthday Val!
