Daily Show, 8/8, Chris Rock Interview - am I too PC here?

I don’t know. A couple of the pictures, like this one, *hint *at Callipygian glory, but there are no backside views, and she’s a big fan of dresses that are not form-fitting around the hips.

Hot white chicks with shapely asses - both Chris Rock and I are big fans.

What’s really funny is… earlier posters whining about Chris Rock… are probably huge fans of South Park…

If you don’t think some shit is funny… move on… trust me… enough of us love Chris Rock… And I really appreciate his tv show “Everybody Hates Chris”… My kids and I watched it together and it sparked many good conversations… example… Rochelle (MOM) belief that sending your black child to a white school would automatically equal better education… that was WAS the thinking in our generation. Huge fan of the man… and if his wife is cool with it lol

Not sure what that has to do with anything. I started the thread because Chris Rock got to be in a small, indie film as an actor - something he has stated he really wants to do to broaden his career as he looks to keep it fresh. In this case, he got the role because a woman who was writing, directing and starring in a movie asked if he’d like to be in it. And Rock repaid her on TDS by speaking, per Vinyl Turnip, *crassly *about her.

I would not be the least surprised to hear that it was an extension of Rock goofiness with Delpy - most folks know what they are getting into with Rock - but without any context, it just seemed crass…no big deal, but crass.

ETA: I do enjoy South Park. Heck, I enjoy a lot of Chris Rock’s work - and watch Everbody Hates Chris with my kids. Doesn’t change the impression I got watching the interview…

You don’t think it was racist of Jon to ask Chris Rock why he was in a Julie Delphy film?

Yes, you are being too pc.

I hear your conclusion, and that is cool - I asked; but I don’t see how your first sentence applies. I am not discussing racism in the OP; I am discussing crass behavior directed to someone who just did a good thing for you…

You’re assuming that Delpy would take offense. It’s possible she doesn’t mind being referred to like that. From the links given in this thread, she doesn’t mind showing off her body to the public, so I’d guess she doesn’t exactly recoil in horror when people make sexual overtones about her.

Can’t argue that.

So, she was asking for it? Just look at the way she dresses?

Let’s see:

He dismissed a known professional in his field as the infamous sexual object.

He implies white women are more valuable than black women.

He implies white women in general aren’t sexy because their asses aren’t big enough.

He implies how valuable a women is, depends primarily on how sexy she is.

He implies that men are led around by their little heads, with no higher brain function involved.

He even fed into the racist hysteria best exemplified by “Birth of a Nation”.

And he really wasn’t any funnier than the guy next to your at the bar when he did it.

Not that any of this matters, but honestly I do wonder about men sometimes; is there a certain amount of unattractive stereotypical behavior they must display? Is it in a contact somewhere?

That’s a pretty unattractive stereotypical sexist statement.
But you already knew that.

Go check out the thread about Lolo Jones.

I’d bone her, no problemo!

There is a stereotype of (usually feminist) women making negative blanket statements about what “men do.”

There is another stereotype of men, when confronted with such statements, acting macho and performing the exact act which was just claimed to be universal among men.

So, both sides are pretty much automatons acting out stereotypes.

Or, as an actual black man that has probably experienced real racism…a comedian that uses race a lot in his act…said something as a joke about a friend that he knew wouldn’t take offense because she knows that’s just how he is. I think you may be reading way too much into it.

Yes, it would be insulting if that were why he took the role.

Not particularly insulting when he’s joking, and riffing on a common stereotype, about why he took the role.

I was being funny in response to whomever’s statement; but like a lot of comedians, he makes a living being an asshole, as it makes people laugh at the human condition (Rickles, Murphy, et al). He’s had some funny bits, but I thought he was just rude on TDS.

When you care to post as an actual woman who has experienced real disrespect in her profession, with explicit reference to her gender - and butt size, …

He’s a comedian. He’s allowed to disrespect people. It’s a job requirement. He isn’t working in a corporate office.

Well, pics or it didn’t happen in reference to your caboose. I like 'em bay-window sized, myself. Are you white, too? Please say yes.

It was meant to shock and offend you, not her. I’m pretty sure, that he’s confident, via their existing relationship, that she’s okay with it. When you’re a comedian I’d wager everyone wants to be the butt of your jokes. (Sorry, it just happened, I swear!)

Chris Rock said something crass?! OMG, next you’ll be telling me the Pope is Catholic. And after that, you’ll try and tell me bears shit in the woods! Where will it all end???
Dude, of course he was crass. HE’S CHRIS ROCK. Crass is what he does.
