Oh good Lord! I just watched that Indian traffic video. I would be BALD from tearing all my hair out. That is just plain scary!
I just had a long conversation with my Baptist hosts about god. That was fun. It’s tough to be polite about not believing in a supernatural divinity when the couple you’re talking to just used their faith to get through a nasty round of cancer. But fortunately, there were no hard feelings created as a result of the conversation.
And that traffic video … Idunno. It didn’t really seem all that crazy to me. The cars and buses looked like they were going 5 mph tops. It was like a crowded parking lot.
::Vewy quietly…wouldn’t want to wake…:: Wait a minnit! There’s no one here! What’s more, the Taters family should be up by now. So a hearty and wide-awake GOOD MORNING! to everyone.
You are brave to discuss such a sensitive subject with your hosts, Spats; I think it’s important to talk in a civilized manner about religion, especially if you don’t share views and have to agree to disagree. But it’s hard most of the time.
Ok, so I’m not *that *awake; that would be unnatural, at least for me. I’m up. I feel better than yesterday, although I’m not ravenously hungry yet, so I know I’m still sick. I’m contemplating what to do with myself today.
It’s supposed to be 86 today. It was originally supposed to be cooler, but it changed its mind. I think I’m going to garden in very small doses. Need to water a bunch of stuff. I also have some stuff to transplant - yes, it’s the wrong time of year for that, but it’s all still in pots and it’s a bigger deal to keep the pots watered. Also, some of the transplants are daylilies and they don’t care when you move them around.
I also need to do some laundry and to put the credenza back together again. Had to take it apart to move it to rescue a DVD that fell behind it. And then it was dusty. So I guess I’ll gradually clean that and move stuff back into it and put the TV and DVD player back (I’ve been watching movies on the laptop, which I can only do for so long).
Happy Saturday!!!
GT
Good on you, Spats. Talking about God with people of differing viewpoints is really interesting, but it’s generally hard to keep it in unemotional territory.
Taters, have fun!
MBG, I’m sorry. Stupid arguments like that are so annoring and draining.
Mika, the traffic video nearly killed Mr. Lissar. He’s never, never going to India. He is paranoid enough about Toronto traffic! Also, I need yogurt troubleshooting. I think I may have cooked it too long, because I ended up with a mild-tasting cheese, sort of in between cream cheese and yogurt. Help? I only heated it for seven hours. Some instructions say four, some say eight. It is a tad confusing.
::spilling coffee::
Ahem. Thanks mika, that got my eyes open this morning. I couldn’t watch all 47 MINUTES at once, but I believe I’ll check back later…
Much better mood this morning. Wife didn’t apologize, didn’t need to, but she understands I was less upset about not going than I was that she thought I wanted to go without her. Ah, it makes sense to me…
It’s BEEYOOTEEFUL out here today. Everyone’s washing off driveways and sweeping for the block party. Ought to be fun, the lady that organizes it, does it for the entire subdivision, but our piece of our block plays host. There’s about 55, of an eventual 219 homes finished here, so we’re still kind of a small group.
Once my breakfast is finished, I’m going out to do about 20 miles on my bike, then out to get meat, salad and beer for the party. The Kid has about 7-8 friends coming over later that’ll probably spend the night crashed on my family room floor so no one has to drive home.
Ok, back to [del]this video[/del] breakfast.
Morning! Time to wash the sheets before work. It is cloudy and 81 here, so I turned on the heat and put on two sweaters.

Spats, yes. Not quite 5 mph but they generally don’t go faster than 30 mph in the city. It’s the only reason why, even though there’s tons of accidents, not that many lethal ones, except out in the country when a bus overturns.
Actually, as I said, that’s mild. In Delhi, you’d have cows, pigs, and dogs, plus pedestrians and rickshaws, too. And urchins. Mustn’t forget the urchins. - Lissla, that happens sometimes when the milk is about to turn over, or you added a little too much vinegar or lemon juice.
- MBG, the first 20 minutes are the best, anyway. I’m glad you liked.

Taters’ husband, you’re welcome!

Spats, I been there lots. My whole family is extremely religious. And they keep saying things like Praise God, Mercy be to god, thank god, for every little thing.
When I went to Vegas with them, every morning we had to take vibuthi, which is ashes of some dead saint (I’m so disrespectful). Anyway, they’re not real dead ashes, only ashes which have been blessed. Sort of kosher-ized, as it were. Anyway, every day she’d pass them out, and we put our ring finger in them - the one that supposedly reaches the heart - and then touch them to our throat and our forehead, then put our finger back in and put a tiny bit into our mouths. Yuck. I hate having ashes in your teeth, they’re gritty, so I would just touch it to my lips.
Anyway. It’s like that all the time with my family.
And who ARE you people who are up at 7:19 on a Saturday? Waa!
Huh. I didn’t put any lemon juice in at all. That’s interesting.
Next time I’ll cook it for only four hours, and use some cream with the milk. Probably on Tuesday. I’m trying to decide what to make with it. Probably sweeten it and fill some pastry or something.
Ah! Isn’t it a lovely day - sky is blue. I slept well, til 10am.
Today I am going shopping for a new task chair. My 8 year old chair doesn’t stay at the top position any longer - I sit down and the chair slowly sinks to the lowest position. Besides, the arms are all torn. I also need a new desk, but that’s for later, after the apt is rented and I have some cash.
It’s almost 3 and I have: eaten breakfast and lunch. Read some Harry Potter (I’m in the middle of re-reading 3). Taken at least one nap.
It’s luxury, I tells ya.

Mission accomplished - it’s take a little getting used to, but it was money well spent. And for an extra $5, they assembled it for me. - so now I can type properly because my hands are way above the keyboard :smack: maybe I’d better lower the seat just a little

Howdy y’all! Hope everyone’s had a happy Sattiday or whatever day it is wherever you are.
Yesterday was a trip! I swear everybody wanted everything right now!!! So, I’m especially happy for the weekend. I spent about an hour with the guy from the wire hangers place going over some stuff. What we do is separate and straighten hangers for the wire hanger place. A no brainer contract that pays pretty good money. Anyway, wire hangers guy is hawt! He’s big and burly and has a great big grin on his face most of the time. It’s really hard for me not to drool on him.
ACBG and I went to a 50th bday party this afternoon. The birthday boy’s wife had invited his entire family, who all still live in Baker County, FL. Baker County is the redneck capital of the world. It was kinda like attending a party on HeeHaw. The bbq was good though. Oh, and I made two gallons of coleslaw for this hoedown. It all got eaten. Go Me!
Right now, we are sipping martinis. I feel so grown up when I’m sipping a martini. Shaken not stirred. Chilled gin, chilled glass and three olives. Call me Bear, Swamp Bear.
I forgot to mention that the olives are blue cheese stuffed olives. NUUUUUM!!! We stopped by the store on the way home just to get 'em. Martini… the drink with it’s own snack. MMMMMMMM… I’m stopping at three. I swear.
Was the milk about to turn, i.e., a little sour already? Cause that’ll do it, too.
We spent all day today looking for, purchasing, and hanging up/installing blinds and curtains downstairs in the new place. That way we can feel more comfortable about moving stuff in, as people can’t just glance in and see what we have. Also, we rented a Rug Doctor and I got to use it. It was actually kind of fun, although he had to carry it up and down the stairs.
I am pleased to report that it was I, after some furious scribbling and some mental mathematics, who figured out that 3.5" blinds would be much too large and overlap too much, and 2.5" blinds would work much better.
Feet hurt, though. We went to so many places to find reasonably-priced curtains that matched…we needed four for the living room. We found this lovely one for the kitchen, two parts to it, an upper and a lower, and with a nice little bird print. (We’re both bird-lovers.)
I just took a shower and smell much better, thankyouverymuch. Actually, my bath scrub smells like pink peony. I’m such a girly-girl.
Mr. Lissar and I went out for a romantic lunch and clothes shopping (for him) expedition. It was very romantic in that there was no one else along! This doesn’t happen very often.
Apparently we are going to leave very soon for Lazy Husband’s house, where we will eat pizza and watch movies, and I will listen to them talk about WoW.
My freezer is mysteriously full. I think it may be the Costco box of pizza pops, ten pounds of cherries, a shredded eight-pound zuchinni, and three loaves of bread that are taking up all the room. I have no idea what’s on the lower level.
Yay for a romantic Lissar excursion! Now that you mention it, it really does seem like you always have someone else around, what with the multiple husbands and all…
Blue-cheese stuffed olives remind me that I have almond-stuffed olives. Not sure what I’ll use them for as I don’t drink martinis.
Glad you’ve taken care of window treatments, Meeks. It took me forever to find the ones I’m using.
I actually have some blinds that I need to hang in the office. Maybe next weekend. I really need to get ready for the arrival of Far-Away Best Friend and family. They’ll be here in less than a month and I’ve still got a metric buttload of things I want to do beforehand. And I’ll be away one of the weekends between now and then (although I’ll probably be taking the Monday I get back to do my usual weekend stuff). I think this is why I’ve been so antsy being sick.
I read more Harry Potter 3, watched Girl with a Pearl Earring and then two episodes of Firefly, had some popcorn and am now eating a bit of salad. I seem to be specializing in odd dinners lately.
Oh, and I cleaned off the top of the credenza. Tomorrow I’ll restore the TV and DVD player to their home. Also might hang a couple of photos i’ve been meaning to put up.
It’s a continued thrill-a-minute chez GT.
Morning all! Just a quick post before work. I got my hockey season ticket select a section form in the mail yesterday. [little girl]SQUEEEEEEEE!!![/lg]. Much cooler here(is 90 really cooler?). I’m going to shower and go to work, and Maggie Wonderbeagle is going to sleep all day. See you tonight!
I was thinking the same thing yesterday about 88. Not really that hot. It’s supposed to be 90 today, so I need to get outside to water stuff. But again, that’s not that hot, is it? It’s allegedly going to be a mere 84 on Tuesday, but I’ll believe it when I feel it…
Do we have an actual volunteer for tomorrow? I thought we recruited someone a couple weeks back…
GT
It was nice here yesterday, but it’s supposed to be hot today. After that the weather’s supposed to level off. I’m glad. I can’t wait for fall.
It’s been a pretty nice three days off, even if I was injured. Too bad I have to go back to work today. Maybe in early September I’ll take several days off. I need a holiday.
