Dallas-Fort Worth fans of No Ordinary Family - now what do we do?

Channel 8 (WFAA) has decided to show some local news program in the time slot formerly used for No Ordinary Family. I have not been able to find the show in another time slot or on another channel.

I use a dial-up Internet connection, so it is not practical for me to download the show from the web. Will it be shown on any channel locally, or am I out of luck? (I don’t have cable, either, so a cable channel does not help me.)

That’s really weird. Years ago WFAA (I think) refused to show NYPD Blue because they objected to the content. Do they refuse to show No Ordinary Family because of the content?

According to my guide, it may just be for this coming week. Verizon’s search has it back in its normal slot next week, the 18th. And that they’ll be showing this week’s around 3 am Saturday morning (it says 3:06, to be exact).
Again, per the Fios on-line guide.

I live in the DFW area and I used to watch this show, but I stopped. Anyhow, I just did a search on the show in my cable listings and it looks like the episode that is getting bumped by the local program on Tuesday night is being aired by WFAA at about 3:05 a.m. this Saturday morning (Jan 15th)

My listings also indicate the show is airing in its normal time-slot on Tuesday Jan 18th, so maybe this was just a one time thing. Still, it’s not a good sign for fans of the show. It’s been getting low ratings and may not get a second season.

Why is the show on a random channel? Where I am at least, it’s on ABC, a major network. What show is being aired in your area on ABC at 8pm on Tuesdays?

You sound like you don’t really have any resources, so I’m guessing you are out of luck. Your only options would seem to be:

  1. If you had a cable box you might be able to watch it free on demand.

  2. If you are willing to wait til summer, you can rent the DVDs.

  3. You can contact your random local station about it.

  4. You can make plans to watch with your neighbor that has better TV than you

OK, I’ve since researched the issue. Apparently, WFAA is an ABC affiliate in your area. My ABC is on channel 7, what’s on your channel 7??

I guess it’s a time zone issue, but in my area, NOF is on at 8 and V at 9, so it looks like NOF has actually been replaced by Good Morning Texas After Dar in your area.

While NOF isn’t listed as a community issue (Oprah seems to be), you could still ask the manager.

jackdavinci, for folks like me watching over-the-air broadcasts, there is no channel 7 in the Dallas area. For cable viewers, various stations wind up on 7, depending on which service you use.

Odesio, I doubt if it’s the content. After the first year, WFAA showed NYPD Blue, and it was a lot stronger stuff than NOF. I think they are just trying to see if there is an audience for news chat in the evening.

BigDummy and Tangent, thank you both. I had checked zap2it and yahoo yesterday, and at that time, neither was able to locate any upcoming episodes. (The search feature often doesn’t seem to work even when there is something there to find, however.)

If zap2it.com will ever get all its ads loaded, I’ll see if it knows about the Saturday showing now. In any case, thanks again. NOF may not be the best show on TV, but we like it.

Warning to those planning to record No Ordinary Family Saturday morning – Yahoo says the start time is 3:10 AM. It would probably be safest to start recording at 3:00 and record for 90 minutes.

And the next episode search feature on Yahoo and zap2it still cannot find any upcoming episodes of NOF even though the actual listings do show the Saturday episode and the next regular episode. Thanks again to **BigDummy **and Tangent. Without your help, I would have missed it.
