Is anyone watching this? Care to speculate with me about all the WTFs in this episode?
Why did Wes (Timothy Oliphant) have pictures of Frobisher in his gun closet? Was it Frobisher that ran over his GF? That would either be an enormous coincidence, that he wound up in the same therapy group as Ellen, or it’s a set-up and he was planted in that group, which opens up a whole new realm of speculation.
Is Purcell (William Hurt) an ex of Patty Hewes? Might he be the father of her son and/or daughter? There was a scene were her son and Purcell met when Purcell was getting on an elevator that Michael was exiting that seems suggestive to me somehow.
Purcell and Claire Maddox are having an affair… is that relevant to Purcell’s wife’s murder, or to the chemical testing, or is it just a bizarre sidebar complication? Do you think Purcell did the murder or not?
Anyone care to speculate on who Ellen is shooting in 6 months? Frankly, I have no idea. Could be anyone.
I’m just going to bump this once, and then admit to myself that yes, I am the only Doper (and the only person I know) watching Damages, which is a sad state of affairs indeed.
I watched the first season but the narrative structure of the show ticks me off. I think it’s an unnecessary gimmick. I like mysteries but I don’t like to be jerked around and teased and I don’t like red herrings. It was kinda fun the first time, but I wish they hadn’t done it that way again.
The thread that praised the first season got me interested. I’ve caught up and am so far enjoying season two.
Yes, I think it was strongly suggested that Purcell is Michael’s father. I think she shoots Wes. I think we’re supposed to think that she shoots Patty, or maybe Frobisher, but I think it’s someone else.
Is Ted Danson alive or undead?
I enjoyed the episode, I am very interested to see if Ellen’s quest for revenge will turn her into a bigger monster then Patty and Frobisher. Since Clair Maddox is somehow involved in the chemical stuff, I think Purcell sold out to the corporation(the are you ready to be reasonable scene), then killed his wife and is now trying to play Patty to get away with murder. No idea who Ellen will end up shooting though.
Yeah, we’re definitely supposed to think that Purcell is Michael’s father at this point (though whether that ends up being the truth or not is up in the air-- years of watching Prison Break has prepared me for any sort of twists and turns they can provide).
I really dig the thought of Rose shooting somebody (the shot from the advertisements for this season showing her in combat mode with a big gun was a big draw for me), but I know they’ll wimp out on it. She probably is in the room with somebody she doesn’t like, but the show is not going to have her shoot that person-- it’ll end up that she fired away from them in order to scare them or as part of a set-up for the FBI or something. Bleh.
I like Olyphant’s part, especially since he’s still so mysterious at the moment. I didn’t really like the FBI agent’s marital problems-- I’m sure it’s going to have some sort of payoff, but right now it just seems unnecessary (especially since that guy’s one of the writers/creators and it just seems indulgent).
A couple things I hope will be addressed and that I will be looking out for that were left open from first season:
Is that police detective who was doing Frobisher’s dirty work going to appear again? I figured he was going to be the key to Rose linking Frobisher to her fiance’s murder, but now it seems she isn’t even investigating that and instead just is keen on revenge.
What was Patty’s son up to on the night Rose was almost killed? I too figured he would be key in her investigation-- maybe he saw something or something else, they left something open at the end of Season 1 relating to him and that night and I so want that to be addressed.
I thought there was at least one more thing, but I’m blanking at the moment. I’d have to re-watch the last two episodes to remember. Anyway, the show has me now so I’m not going to quit watching, and Rose is still awesome so cool.
