Damages

Damages is billed as a “legal thriller”. It is on the FX Network and is in its Fifth season now.

I have only recently found it and have now watched the first season and a few episodes into the second season.

I’m concerned about about starting this thread here and now because if there was any interest in discussing this show, then someone would have almost certainly have started a thread here in the past and it would have “dropped off” the board due to a lack of interest. If that is indeed what happened, then I hope some kindly moderator will delete this thread.

Otherwise, I’d like to say that this show started off with a big bang in the first few episodes of Season One but seems to have largely languished since then. However, I’ve been told it the action has really picked up in the later seasons and so it might be worth trying to discuss it again.

It stars Glen Close and Rose Byrne and both of them are fabulous in these roles. If you haven’t ever seen this show, I’d certainly like to reommend it to you. It’s extremely intellectual and will keep you guessing as to who the bad guy really is.

I’d be interested to hear if anything good came of this series. I found it awesome about 3/4 of the way through Season 1, then (and I can’t remember what it was, being so long ago) I just was completely taken out of the series by the end of the season. I was so irritated by the last few episodes that I never bothered with season two, or anything since, and am surprised that it is still going on, as I haven’t heard much about it in the last two years or so.

It only ran for three seasons on FX. After the third season, FX declined to pick it up for the fourth and Sony (the distributor) reached an agreement with DirecTV’s Audience Network to pick it up, where it airs now.

Yes, it is an excellent program, and was much discussed here on the Dope. Probably the reason no one is discussing it now is because it is on DirecTV and not as many people are able to watch it.

Season three was awesome and probably the best of its run while on FX, and the sheer number of guest stars was breathtaking. I won’t spoil anything, but Keith Carradine, Martin Short, Lily Tomlin, Timothy Olyphant, Ted Danson, Campbell Scott, and Dominic Chianese all had roles. Apparently the ratings weren’t up to FX’s expectations, so that’s why it moved to DirecTV.

I’ve seen all episodes and it is quite good. It’s no Breaking Bad, mind you, but it is still worth watching. The SERIES finale airs tomorrow night.

I have seen Seasons 1-3. I really like the program. As soon as the other seasons are available on Netflix, I’ll be watching them.

Likewise. Season 4 is out, but is on my queue as “very long wait.”

As soon as s4 is available instantly on Netflix, or our library gets it, I’m getting caught up. I really enjoyed the first three seasons when they were on FX.
