This is literally doublethink from “1984.” If even something as inconsequential as this merits this kind of failing mental gymnastics, then there is no limit, no Everest-like peak, to which their self-contradictory lies will not attempt to climb to defend the indefensible.
These all are of a piece. His incurious mind manifests both in harmful “policies,” AND in goofy Twitter errors. I agree we shouldn’t waste too much energy focusing just on the latter, but they are not really separate things.

But it does present a ludicrously large target for conservatives to point and laugh and say “look at liberals hyperventilating over nothing again”, or “Trump must be doing great if this is all they have”, or most unfortunately, “Wow, Trump really got them stirred up again! What a genius!” So many escape hatches and opportunities to redirect here.
I get it, it’s funny. It does show that he probably dozed off in mid-tweet, which is disturbing. But mocking a typo is not the sharpest kind of satire in the proverbial shed.
It was a deliberate distraction. He knew a dumb tweet would get far more attention then important news like withdrawing from the Paris Agreement.
I say Trump knew exactly what he was doing when he tweeted “Covfefe”.
I sometimes wonder if Trump occasionally sits down with his friends and says, "Hey, guys, watch this. I’m gonna send out a tweet that will make the snowflakes have even bigger spasms of stupidity. Let’s see, what can I use? "
Unfathomably, there appear to still be some in the country (and on this Board) who don’t yet acknowledge Trump is a complete incompetent buffoon. So, yeah, it make take a few hundred more threads. We all have to do our part.

Yes, if only we drop the “covfefe” thing, then FOX will start openly acknowledging mistakes and misinformation by the president and the republican party, have an evidence-based discussion on climate change, and generally seek to be balanced and objective.
Or, sans sarcasm: conservatives don’t need coherent excuses to ignore everything the left says and defend Trump (even when he contradicts himself). They call everyone who is not them hypocrites or fake news or whatever ad hominem, whatever the issue we’re talking about is, and whatever evidence is brought to the table.
So what difference does it make if we get to laugh at Trump over something trivial?
I agree Trump is a dummy. I just don’t see the need for 6563839393 threads on it. And let’s not talk about denial or delusional while you still believe the UN is going to force the US to let California secede.
