Oh well I’ll just have to keep an eye out for my first hundred.

[SUP] Im not really sure what that “hi opal” is all about. I’ve just been reading it in alot of post lately and I felt like I needed to be a part of it!<shrugs shoulders>[/SUP]
I missed my thousandth. I’ll probably miss my two thousandth. It doesn’t really matter. Sorry to pee on your parade, but marking 100 posts seems a little silly to me. How about forgetting what the little number on the left says? Post some stuff, get to know some people, just hang out with us.
It’s not about post count, it’s about what you post.
Some people have high post counts and post nothing but crap. Others have lower post counts, but only post useful stuff.
Duh, I think I know that. Did I missunderstand? I believe this is the place for mindless thoughts right? Trust me folks I’m all about the content and not the numbers. Please forgive my feeble attempt for a little humor. Jeesh…
Sorry to pick on you, SHAKES, this thread just found me feeling a little peevish about “100 post parties.” I’ve seen so many and to be honest, I think post count parties are silly in general, but I usually just stay out of them. People want to have a little silly fun, that’s what MPSIMS is here for. I have my own silly things. But 100 posts? That’s handy’s daily production.
Not that your presence isn’t welcome, not that I don’t like newbies, it’s just that post count doesn’t mean a whole lot, as has been pointed out many times. I think how long you’ve been a part of this community should be more important than how many times you’ve clicked “Submit,” ya know?
So anyway, don’t mind this cranky old lady. It’s past my bedtime. Have fun.
She’s a crank and a spoilsport, and if she doesn’t like people mentioning their post numbers she can just stay out of those threads and keep her trap shut. Double for Mudshark.
There are many spoilers on these boards who are quick to attack those newer than them. They seem to forget what the early days of their own SDMB life was like, and the headiness of finding a group of intelligent, funny and contentious people all in the same place.
But we know don’t we, that such earnest criticism of such a minor offence is only part of the whips and scorns of time, the oppressor’s wrong, the proud man’s contumely, the pangs of despised love, the law’s delay, the insolence of office and the spurns that patient merit of the unworthy takes?
And we’ll get over it, in about 649 posts. Or more.
I think someone tampered with the odometer on mine, because I don’t recall posting so much. But SDMB is very addicting, as well as educational, interesting, entertaining,…
Dear SHAKES, ignore Redboss, he doesn’t know me at all. I’m not a crank, I’m not a spoilsport. I’m not one of those folks who like to pick on people with fewer posts than them. I really truly don’t think post count matters, which is why I wish people wouldn’t have post count parties. The only time I pay much attention to the number is if I want to look up what someone’s posted and look to see how long it will take to research–if they’ve posted a lot, it might take a while. Yes, I realize I hijacked your thread for this discussion, and I hope you will forgive me for it. And yes, I also realize that probably nobody’s going to pay any attention to my opinion and keep on having post count parties.
This is such a fun place to be, with such diverse, clever, witty people. Let’s just enjoy each other and the community and quit worrying about numbers (except if you’re one of those people like RTFirefly, who is one of those freakish mathematician types who actually like numbers. In that case, I’ll just pat you on the head and back away.).
