How will you squander your milestone post?

I haven’t posted in about three days because my post count has been sitting at 1999, and I wanted to start some monumental, awesome new thread with my 2000th. I know I shouldn’t give a flying fish whether a post ends in a big shiny round number, but for some reason I do.

The hamster muses have left my completely uninspired, so I started this poll instead. How will you (or did you) squander your 100th, 1000th, or Xth post, where X mod 10 = 0? Are you even conscious of your post count, or do you ignore it?

All right, I gotta get this out of the way so I can start posting normally again.

#500 was a milestone for me. I think it was a reply to a Buffy thread in Cafe Society. #1000 passed unnoticed in a MPSIMS wrangle. #2000 was in a GD thread on gun control. I don’t think I’ve ever had a “milestone” post as a thread-starter.

I’ve stopped really noticing my post count. I’m more concerned that people are actually remembering me and posts I make rather than the sheer number of them. Besides, until you get into 5 figures, it really doesn’t matter. That’s when the stock options kick in!

When you hit 5,000, I’m buying you a new Hawaiian shirt to go with your collection.
Does the yellow one you wore to the dopefest come with a battery pack? :stuck_out_tongue:

I don’t pay attention to my post count at all. Whatever I post is pointless anyways, no matter what the number.

One of these days I’m going to go thread-streaking though.

I celebrated my 500th post in this thread, comparing Hugo Weaving’s eyebrows to Peter Gallagher’s.

And it meant just as much to me as any other post.

You know, if we just used base20000 for our number system, I think this would all just go away.

I have about 50 more posts to figure it out.

Think man think!

I don’t consider 100 and 500 to be milestones so have no idea how I spent those but I used my 1,000th and 5,000th posts to post in the same Trek thread in Cafe Society.

When I hit 10,000 (in February or March 2006 if my math is right and my posting rate stays the same), I expect I’ll probably celebrate it the same way too. The people in that thread are the main reason I stuck around in the beginning and are thus responsible for me being here now.

Thank you! I accept!

The Dopefest shirt is solar-powered. Just wait…I have some that are nuclear!

Well, the big 1,607 comes and goes…

I just wasted number 500 on this?

Believe me, there comes a point when you stop fretting over such a thing.

Probably saying something mindless. As usual.

I have a vague memory that I was looking forward to my 1,000th post. Then around 970 I completely lost track of the count.

I remember realizing that I had topped 2,000 posts, and wondering how.

Now I look at my post total and think “Geez, I should be doing more work.”

I think I posted my 1000 with a thread in MPSIMS (back when that was kosher round here), as it happened to fall on my one year anniversary of registration here.
All the rest have gone by in a breeze. I know that I am within sight of 5000 – but I’ll probably just waste it like I did the rest of them: talking about football or making fart jokes or something of the sort.

mouthbreather, bringing the median IQ of the boards down for almost 5 years now.

Maybe I’ll blow #300 on a GD hijack
or not.

I think that I’ve got 8,000* coming up soon. It will probably just zoom on by unnoticed, like most of the others.

I blame it all on Nighwatch Trailer, Maureen, Gfactor, CBawlmer, Vd, Bordelond, Sternvogel, Twickster, Rubystreak, Chastain86, ReverseCowgirl, Quiltguy, C_r_y_s_t_a_l, Evil Death, etc. and the MMPers, who are too numerous to mention.

Aw, Shibb, the only thing more fun than gratuitously posting oneself is inciting others to post gratuitously.

I remember noticing when 1,000 went by – it might have been in the “a” thread, but perhaps not – and was looking forward to 5,000, but forgot about it until I was around 5,007 and couldn’t reconstruct which particular gratuitous post had marked the milestone.

One does one’s best.

I blew my 100th (in 2 weeks of membership) by suggesting 3 gory movies to rent for Halloween: *Kill Bill, The Stepfather * & Play Misty for Me. There’s still time.

But I’m proudest (shame on me) of my earlier posting of the “No more float on checks after 10/28?” thread. That was yesterday, folks, and Check 21 is now the law (guess who signed it) and your first resulting bounce fees will be coming through in your first statement after the election. Lead my rips. Know new taxes.
