Damn, I'm buying Windows XP

With deals like these, you can bet I’ll be upgrading very soon.

I was planning to upgrade eventually, having Beta tested the OS, but now I’m really baited.

Hell, the freebies cost more than the Upgrade does. I’m pretty sure I’m choosing the Palm, considering my CD-RW, digital camera, and cable router are all up to date as it is. I’m sure the “host of software titles” is similar to the $5 pack of unknown CDs you can find at WalMart, and I can forego MSN as well.

But 128 MB of RAM and a new Palm, just for buying what I was already planning to buy? Hot damn!

I wonder if the deal applies to online purchases. I need XP anyway. (OK, I don’t need it but I’m networking a laptop and two desktops and the laptop came with XP installed…) Scuse me while I head over to Staples.com.

And thanks for posting this.

Anyone seen any rebates on Hard Drives?

I was considering buying XP until I ran the “Upgrade Advisor” available on their website and it told me a whole ton of stuff on my computer might not work with XP.

I’ve never bought anything with rebates at Staples, but I have some experience with CompUSA (Com Poo Suh). Their rebates only work if you send in the ORIGINAL receipt with each “free” item. Problem is, some of these deals have more than one free item and you need to send that receipt to more than one manufacturer.

And then if you decide that means you bought something you didn’t want to pay full price for and want to return it, you also need that receipt.

So anyway, careful.
