Damn! That's it - I'm going home!

I recently changed positions in the company I work for. This required moving from my nice cubicle to a crappy office I have to share with someone who’s never here. His stuff is all over the place so until my department moves to another building, I’m stuck in here with just my desk, chair and anything I can fit on my desk.
Because of the way my officemate set up the office, I only have one outlet I can use. I’ve tried setting my desk up multiple ways but the only way to plug eveything in is to have the surge protector (power strip?) thingie right at my feet. Well, I just stepped on the power button. It’s not like I have big feet. They’re size 6. I’ve never stepped on it before. I shut off my whole system. I lost the e-mail I was trying to send to a customer. I lost the all the phone messages I’ve received today (I keep them in a word doc. for follow up and hadn’t saved all day). I got stuck in both my order entry screens and I can’t sign into them again for at least 10 minutes. I think I may also now be stuck in an order and the computer room goes home at 4:00 so no one can release me until tomorrow morning.
I knew I was going to have a bad day when I woke up thinking it was Saturday :frowning:
I think this may be the lamest rant I’ve ever seen. I’m so ashamed.
Is anyone else having a bad day???

I guess you could call it a bad day; it’s more of a miserable day, I suppose. I’m working at a temp job; I’ve got a really great job starting next Tuesday, but my pimp agency is making me work out the rest of the week here (there’s a story in that, too - what a bunch of pricks). I developed an ulcer last Friday, so my stomach is aching so badly on and off that I almost fainted a little while ago, and to top this all off, the staff here is so overworked that they don’t have any time to give me any work to do. So I’m sitting here at a job that will end in a couple of days doing absolutely nothing with a badly aching stomach. Bleah.

But at least I’m not feeling sorry for myself.

I’m sorry you’re in pain Featherlou. I hope your ulcer goes away.
I’m feeling a bit better about my day.
At least I have work to do and I’m not in pain.

Well, your day could be worse…

Someone could come into your thread and say, “Why didn’t you save your Word doc?”

Very true Lily. I usually do. Yesterday I was just not all here mentally. I’m feeling much better today. The day is young though.

Sounds like the surge protector problem could be solved by the simple operation of duct-taping it to the bottom or side of your desk. Or, at the very least, duct-taping it to the floor as far away from your feet as possible.

And since this is the Pit, I’ll rant a bit too. Today, just before I was departing for lunch, the Program That Will Not Go Away reared it’s worthless 15-year-old forgotten code back up in my face. I pushed it back down quickly, but it resurrected itself 3 hours later, about 15 minutes before I was to go home. And it’s now the first thing I have to look at tomorrow. DAMNIT!
