I see that if you Google for the Jimmy Carter rabbit incident today that you find two photos. One is the distant photo of the President shooing something away but it is on the far side of the boat. There is also a second photo of a rabbit swimming. I wonder if that second photo was available back then or if it is something that has been added more recently to enhance Carter’s reputation a bit?

The photo of a rabbit swimming looks like part of the original blown up, presumably to show how dangerous looking if is.

The simplest way to enhance Carter’s reputation is through old-fashioned spin-doctoring.

“Did you know that Carter was actually proficient in close-quarters combat? He’s the ONLY president to go up against a killer rabbit and win!”

According to my Dad, a US military-budget research program trained attack rabbits. Ultimately, of no more military value than the attack-dolphins or the Russian anti-tank dogs.

Rabbit would attack guard dog: guard dog would rip out throat of attack rabbit.

Yeah, for some reason I did not notice the wee beastie in the corner of the Pres in the boat photo.
