how could anyone find a person not of legal age attractive? I mean it’s not like we wlive in a youth culture where those who are above the legal age emulate those younger than themselves, or in a culture where our biggest female sex simbols are teenage girls, or those who look like teenage girls.

A 16 yo girl, in this day and age, is a sexual being. They didn’t assault her, they didn’t put a move on her.

I’ve said it in the other thread and I’ll say it here. Looking at an attractive 16-year old girl and going, “Wowza!” is a perfectly natural thing to do. Current social and legal rules prohibit doing anything about it and a gentlemen would attempt NOT to make an issue of her panties but it’s not a criminal act.
I would have been more cautious about giving a sixteen year old girl a ride in the first place. Especially so since I would know that she had to ride sandwiched between two grown men. A routine traffic stop by a policeman could have turned really ugly considering her age and the beer on the floorboard. I would think that even now the girl could cause a lot of trouble, if she chose to do so. I wonder how much beer had been consumed before this little episode got started?

She’s a post-pubescent human displaying developed secondary sexual characteristics who’s undoubtably no stranger to either the sexualization of youth in media or her own sexual effect on sixteen-year old boys, who’s comfortable enough with her body to dress in short skirts and tank tops on hot days, and who apprarently comprehends the sexualization of her own youth and body enough to (maybe)ironically choose Hello Kitty underwear, a brand ostensibly aimed at pre-pubescent children, who accepted a ride in a pick-up truck and was either daft or flirtatious enough to NOT respond to “Spread your legs, honey” with an acute awareness of her potentially exposed nether regions, and who may possibly thus have been the unwitting victim of two good 'ol boys who snuck a dirty peek and then dealt with it tactlessly but who otherwise did nothing to perpetrate or further exacerbate the situation.
I mean, really. Terrible crimes against young woman happen all the time. This wasn’t one of them.
I’m not aware of Danalan’s precise location, but does it change matters if the 16 year old girl is legally the age of consent? I know it gives me the oogies to consider that internationally, there are countries where a 12 year old is considered to be a sexually-viable adult; is that my own cultural hang-up? As I have no problem at all with someone admiring a 16 year old girl in a short skirt: in the UK, 16 is legal. Any younger than that, and Danalan’s thread would’ve made me much more uncomfortable. As it was, I can’t speak from experience but I doubt the majority of women would get a kick out of two older guys sneaking a peek at her underwear (please correct me if I’m wrong). That made me feel bad for her, but it was nothing at all to do with her age.

Hell, sometimes you really can’t tell these days: I was sitting in my best friend’s living when they had just moved houses, and caught this gorgeous blonde outside, whom I estimated to be about 18, 19 (I must have been 26 at the time). I told my friend, “Wow, what a pretty girl!”. Upon which he said, “Dude. She’s 14.”
Could I help looking at her in the first place, seeing her as attractive? No. Would I ever look at her in that way again, knowing her age? HELL NO.
Same applies here. Danalan knew the girl was 16, and he found her attractive. That’s fine, she may have been a knock-out for all I know. I’ll even go as far as understanding the first glance, with the side note that the fact that he KNEW she was going to have to spread her legs doesn’t speak for him, to say the least. But the second glance, and the consequent comments were definitely out of line, and must have made that girl very uncomfortable. No laughing matter at all: Danalan should realise that when he can no longer empathise with the emotional impact his remarks have on a 16 year old, he shouldn’t be looking at said 16 year old as an equal-terms-lust-object.

Im with Zen and Trist. Some people here have blown things wayyyy out of proportion here. Nothing bad happened, geeez. At 16, she may have maturing to do to become a woman, but physically she’s already there.

Personally, if I had a daughter around that age, and I heard this story from the girl involved, I would never, ever, ever let my daughter be in any way alone or unsupervised with the two complete assholes in question. It’s the leering, not the looking that I find gross. And the comments and looks. They could’ve subtly looked, taken a mind vacation or whatever.
The point at which they acted in such a way that made her shut her legs quickly and turn read was the point they went from normal admiring of an attractive person to being piggish. It’s certainly not illegal, just creepy.
Also, the friend commenting about “Hello Kitty” was inappropriate. It would’ve also been appropriate if they’d done it to an adult woman or man.

In the other thread, someone said he’s over 40 years old. This puts him way into “old enough to be her father” range, and frankly most 16-year-olds think of 40-year-olds as being really old, and often not sexually interested in anyone. Regardless, he’s old enough to know better, even if we can’t say the same for her. It’d be one thing if a couple of immature guys nearer her own age would be laughing about this, as most teenage girls would probably put that in an “ohmigawd I am SO embarrassed” category, but having guys her dad’s age doing it would probably feel a lot more scary/icky to her. Expanding on a previous poster’s comment, if the police or parents were to become involved, then yes, a year or two can make a hell of a lot of difference depending on where you live.
My problem with the post in question was the tone and perceived immaturity of the poster. Here was an older man talking about this girl as if he was writing the softcore edit of a Penthouse letter (talking about her “cherry” and so on). I asked in the original thread if they’d have complimented her on a good trim job if she hadn’t worn panties that day. It was amazingly selfish and obnoxious to openly look under her skirt; it was near-intentionally hurtful to laugh about it in front of her. And yes, I think it’s pretty icky to write about getting close to some teenage girl’s “cherry” on a message board. I don’t think I’d go so far to scream sexual exploitation, but if those guys lived near me, I wouldn’t want them giving rides to my nieces (one of whom is college age even, and well past the age of consent).
