Dancing with the Stars -- DWTS -- Fall 2010

Maks had a set of eight counts to let go by before starting that dance too, so as not to be dancing “out of phrase,” as it used to be called. I believe he’d have done that in a professional dance competition too, because he’s that good a dancer.

But his insolence in telling a judge not to worry about it was soul jarring and totally disrespectful, in my opinion. I have a feeling we won’t be seeing him next season because of that, and I for one will be disappointed if that happens.

They are on Larry King tonight (Thursday).

Pretty good interviews on Larry King. Best part was this weird Larry K question. (to the pro) So, are you a professional dancer? You should have seen the Wonder Kid’s face. You know he’s thinking, “dude, I’m the greatest dancer ever! Of course I’m a pro.”

Mark and the others took it in stride. They get dumb ass questions all the time.

No slip ups from the celebrities. Everyone was positive, no drama, eveything’s great, I’m humble and I sincerely hope to win. Typical script.

It was nice seeing the dance clips again and the interviews weren’t bad.

I love Maks. I cringed when he got into it with the judges, but I don’t care.

Love him.

Who’s “the Wonder Kid”?

I’m guessing maybe Derek?

Link?

That was Derek. I rewatched Larry King at 11 last night. Mark was pretty surprised by the “Are you a Pro question too”. I can’t imagine where that came from. The dwts finalists have been on Larry’s show a bunch of times over the years. He should know the show’s cast by now.

Where did it come from? The depths of Larry King’s senility. When does Piers Morgan start, again?

I remember seeing a clip from when Larry King interviewed Seinfeld. Classic.

Dang! I was going to mention that.

The guy’s famous for his lack of preparation, who knew he also lacked a long term memory?

I’ve heard that he claims he doesn’t do the standard research on his guests because he wants to ask the questions that his viewers would ask.

I guess he has a low opinion of his viewers.

Good interview with Derek. He confirms that Jenn had to get cleared to dance after her knee flare up.

Even Derek thinks all the drama over Jenn’s injuries is overkill. I don’t like being manipulated by over done drama. The package edit gave the impression she was risking further injury and ignoring professional advice. Common sense told me they wouldn’t let her dance against Doctors orders. There’s too much liability and the shows insurance wouldn’t cover it.

I just finished reading Patrick Swayze’s book. A high school football hit wrecked his knee. He danced in pain his entire professional career. He went to NY to train in a prestigious ballet company. After some grueling rehearsals, he would go to the hospital and get fluid drained off his knee. Get up the next day and rehearse again. Even filming some scenes in Dirty Dancing strained his knee and required a hospital visit to drain fluid. He had multiple knee surgeries throughout his career. Dealing with pain is part of any dancers life.

Well, I’m hoping we’ll see Brandy leave this week. That would leave Jenn, Kyle, and Bristol. Brandy is so intense it’s hard watching her. I’m tired of her bad attitude and much rather see Bristol in the final. At least she dances for fun.

Bad attitude? I don’t get that from Brandy at all.

And even though Bristol keeps getting better each week, I don’t think that Audrina should have been voted off and should still be in it. Oh well. At any rate, I’d prefer that Bristol get voted off tonight, not because I don’t like her, but I like the others dancing better.

Yeah, I’m hoping Bristol goes home tonight, because of the four of them I think she’s the least deserving to be in the finals. I don’t think she will – my guess is Kyle, though it will depend at least in part in how people actually do tonight. Looking forward to it!

(bolding mine). Ironic, but true, in reality show competitions. “Who goes home” is only based in part on how they actually perform.

Well, just got done watching the semis, and despite Bristol still dancing with a face that looks like she just ate a sour persimmon, that paso was strangely hot, and her best performance of the season by a wide margin. The waltz, not so much.

I thought Brandy’s Argentine tango was one of the ten best dances I’ve seen on this program. Loved all the stuff on the stairs.

Kyle’s footwork looked pretty good for once, and as always he really threw himself into the performance.

Jenn’s were technically spot on; just not so flash as Brandy’s or Kyle’s.

Who should make the finals, IMO: Jennifer, Brandy, Kyle.

Who will (probably) make the finals: Jennifer, Brandy, Bristol.

Tonight was very good. Imagine Jenn getting two perfects dances. All the dancers set new personal bests. Even Bristol had 53 out of 60. This is the first week that I want to rewatch everything.

The fan base vote will be critical in deciding who continues to the finals. Since nobody screwed up this week then I guess (as usual) people will vote based on personalities.

I hope Jenn and Kyle go the finals for sure. They’ve both worked so hard. Kyle has improved dramatically this season. I still prefer Bristol over Brandy. But, Brandy is obviously a better dancer.

I agree Kyle may be in trouble. I’m not sure about his fan base. It’s a shame because he’s worked his butt of. I had never heard of him before dwts.

Yeah, so I almost voted for Kyle this week – had to vote for Jennifer, though, because, dayum, that was some outstanding dancing, and it would be a crime if she didn’t make it to the finals.
