Dancing with the Stars -- DWTS -- Spring 2014 (Season 18)

Billy Dee, what happened to ye?

I don’t think it’s fair to have two actual dancers as contestants, and I don’t care if they’re ice dancers.

Please please please let Billy Dee go home. Please.

And I’m sad there’s no Tristan this season – did he not want to come back or was he axed also? They should have axed that tool Mark Balas instead.

Mark and Candace had the most amazing, creative dance of the evening.

Doesn’t mean he’s not a tool.

I hope Erin Andrews is incredibly successful in her new role on DWTS and that she never ruins another televised sporing event ever again as a result.

She may be less of an idiot than Brooke – wouldn’t be hard – but my god, her voice is so unpleasant!

I’d say it takes a lot of intelligence, in fact genius, to be that creative.

Anything you DO like about the program, twickster?

Meryl–beautiful dance, 8s
Charlie–could not watch because he danced to a song I detest & despise & I turned it off (but still had the stupid song in my head)
Mark Balas and Candid Camera–I guess this dance was well done but it was weird. Can’t that chick stand up? If ever there was a dance for someone with no feet, that was it.
Billy Dee Williams–okay you can go home now, you tried
Diana Nyad–Love her, hope she gets a chance to get better. When I heard she was on the program I figured she’d be the Martina Navratilova of the season but maybe not.
Amy & Derek–Not a good idea to bet against anyone partnered with Derek but I didn’t find her dance all that amazing. And when they say they are going to judge her just like anyone else–really? I noticed they made quite a few references to people “finding their feet” and “pointing their toes.”
Danica–I liked her, but saw a lot of room for improvement, and she got the same scores as Meryl? Weird.
The 17-year-old with the accent was kinda cute but annoying.
NeNe–I thought she did great.

There was something I didn’t like about Brooke but nothing I could really pin down. Erin seems much more intelligent, somehow–and I remember liking her when she was on the show–but my god her voice is grating, how do you get that far in television without a voice coach?

They almost always have actual dancers as contestants, and they usually do pretty well.

Tom’s face is almost at Erin’s boobs level. Cool.
I was pleasantly underwhelmed by the entire evening. Nothing really bad to sink my teeth into, but no one jumps out at me as my fave yet either. YET. I’m sure it will come, first week always seems jittery.

That’s the kind of thing that the “mute” button is for.

She’s used to standing on the sidelines at football games, shouting over whatever else is going on. Of which there is plenty at DWTS, too. :o
I think that this is looking like a good cast. I’d like the full dance orchestra and the results show back, :frowning: but Erin Andrews is doing better than her predecessors, and the costumes are looking better.

I’m suspecting that the producers, trying to implement the “switch” gimmick, are already figuring out what was obvious to fandom from the first.

I want to know who voted to see Billy Dee Williams again. It’s torture watching him try to dance.

I watched a few of last nights dances on youtube. Meryl and Maks’ swing dance was really good. Charlie and Sharna’s Tango was lacking content. Too much posing and swaying. Danica and Val’s Samba didn’t have much samba content either. The samba was ok.

Amy Purdy’s swing dance was good considering her issues with the prosthetics. Derek couldn’t include any lifts like Maks did for Meryl.

Did the lighting look off to anyone else? The dancers all looked way too bright, while the judges looked okay. When looking at the dancers, I felt I needed to adjust my TV.

I was very sorry the hockey player, who I thought had some potential, went home before Billy Dee. When he danced, it felt like he was really dancing, as opposed to doing the movements his coach gave him to do.

I like Charlie, simply because he seems to be having fun.

Marla’s rehearsal makeup made her look like a clown.

Still not feeling the love for the Aussie.

It’s hard to belief that Candace Cameron Bure is actually a year younger than Danica McKellar. Also hard to belief that Danica is 39.

StG

I’m liking Danica quite a bit also, because of the “damn this is fun” vibe.

And Candace – she could come across as very self-righteous because of her faith, but for some reason I’m taking it at face value and respecting her for standing up for what she is and isn’t comfortable with. (Of course, I don’t have a reflexive contempt for any and all believers, I’m sure others are going apeshit.)

And Meryl – who has the weirdest eyes, it’s like she can’t open them because her false eyelashes are so heavy – is clearly not letting Maks give her any shit. I’m liking them as a pair.

Not happy about this “mix up the couples” thing – part of what I like about the show is watching the relationships develop.

I liked the hockey player – bummer he’s gone and Billy Dee is still there.

I’m rooting for a Winnie v. Drew finale.

I think it’s a great season so far. I really like everyone. Well, except Nene. She may grow on me though.

I’m glad to see Maks back, but I miss Tristan.

I hope Winnie Cooper mops the floor with DJ.

+1 I’m on #TeamWinnie.

I know it’s bad form to bump a three day old thread but I had to choose between internet and cable and work who blocks everything so I catch up when I can. Also; this is my first season watching the show because Drew Carey, James Maslow, and Cody Simpson were a trifecta for me.

I would like to point out that James, while technically a boy band member, is an actor who scored a role on a show about guys in a boy band. Sound familiar?

In closing he’s always been nice to me (though: Acting!) After that salsa though I might not ever be able to look him in the eye again.
