What, no boo-hooing for poor Harry Hamlin, forced to compete by his way-too-intense wife?
Nope. He wasn’t very good and I can’t imagine his fan base is all that large. Not surprised at all that he’s twinkle-toeing back to his own private dance floor. I feel bad for Ashly, however. That poor girl can’t get a break!
Well, looks like Ashly did enough boo-hooing for everyone, poor kid. Jeez, first Master P, now this.
At least we mostly saw that dance.
The Scissor Sisters - I didn’t need to watch them… why were the dancers off camera for most of that dance? It was horribly filmed.
Not surprised to see Hamlin go, he wasn’t good. My guess is next week, Jerry goes right after he waltzes.
Actually, I think they weren’t dancing during the time that they were totally off camera - I think they danced an intro, went and stood by the side to let the band show off for a bit, then came back on.
I was sad for Harry and Ashly. I was sure it was going to be Willa.
Apologies to the great Carson…

Name three Disney stars who are nude from the waist down.
I had really hoped to live the rest of my life out without ever having to hear “You Light Up My Life” again.
(Does anyone else remember the Carol Burnett skit where she sings that to Tim Conway as she scrubs him in a bubble bath?)
And so the list of TV shows in which Eva Longoria has NOT made an appearance drops to the single digits. I fully expect to turn on the Weather Channel sometime and find her doing the Tropical Update.
This particular ep should get some kind of prize for having the most deleriously hideous music yet. Was the low point the utterly tuneless rendition of “Take it to the Limit” or that weird screeching by the singers at the end of Sarah’s bit? Your votes can decide…
Were there any really good waltzes tonight? I ended up going with the judges in giving the nod to Willa and Max, but jeez, girl, save some makeup for the other women next time, eh? The rest all seemed roughly the same level, all credible but not much to choose between them, even Mistah Springer.
On the Paso side of things, I didn’t think Sarah’s attempt was quite as bad as the judges made out, but hey, I’m no latin dancer. I sorta figured this was Mario’s to win or lose, and it looks like he finally got the message about ditching the freestyle stuff.
Who goes? Oughta be Jerry, but unless Sarah’s fans come out in droves, she may be going home.
I saw her on one of the night time talk shows and she was talking about how Mario is a good friend of hers. When asked if she would ever do DWTS she said if she did it she would win because she is just too competitive not to win.
I think the better response would have been, “Oh no, I could never take that much time away from all my self-promotion.”
You said everything I wanted to say, but so much better! Willa had so much makeup on, I’m surprised her face didn’t crack. Maybe that’s why her smile looks a little strained–she’s afraid she’ll crack her face if she smiles too much.
I couldn’t believe how bad the music was tonight. And it really puts the dancers with bad music at a big disadvantage, because it’s hard to do the paso doble to a really bad cover of a rock song.
I can’t believe that Willa’s Waltz outscored Mario’s Paso Doble! He was fabulous. She was meh! (IMHO)
Sarah’s gotta be toast. It was painful watching her. She just doesn’t have it as a dancer.
Joey was OK. Viveca was OK. Jerry was very touching. Emmitt was really fierce. But I think this competition is going to come down to Monique, Joey and Mario. . . and that Mario will win!
(I wish Maksim wouldn’t grease down his hair. He’s so much better looking with it all fluffy!)
Paso dobleing to Bon Jovi? Ooookay.
And call me a sentimental fool, but I thought Jerry’s dance tonight was just so sweet it made me sniffle. I even kinda wished for a moment that he was my daddy (as opposed to my baby daddy ). But he made up in emotion what he lacked in technique.
My favorite moment of the evening? Maksim’s demonstration of the paso doble. ::drool::
Sara was horrible, can her fans truly not see the difference between what she did and what everyone else on the floor was doing? It was hideous. Just awful.
Jerry’s dance was his best ever, and the choreography was sweet, and hell, bulls in a china shop would have done a better job than Sara did. She needs to go.
Am I misremembering? I thought Willa got two 9s and a 10, and Mario got two 10s and a 9. I actually thought Willa was better though actually.
I got involved in a conversation during the last five minutes – what was the final ranking (per the judges)?
Yes, I did go to the ABC website – the info isn’t there, which seems like someone needs to rethink that page a little.
You are not misremembering the scores. I guess this is just a difference in tastes. I thought Mario was much better. . . I didn’t even think Willa was the best Waltzer (my vote would go to Monique).
Final scores were
Monique & Louis: 24
Emmitt & Cheryl: 24
Willa & Maks: 28
Sara & Tony: 20
Jerry & Kym: 22
Vivica & Nick: 24
Joey & Edyta: 27
Mario & Karina: 29
You can see all the dances at Raphael Pungin’s site or at My Ox Is Broken (the latter had some audio problems this week, but has more extensive commentary on the dances).
Thanks, ENugent. Those all look about right to me, though Willa and Maks perhaps a trifle high.
Og willing, Sara will be going home tonight.
