"Dancing with the Stars" Season IV

Exactly. Which is why she doesn’t count :stuck_out_tongue:

Fan votes are the tiebreaker, but a tie is highly unlikely under the percentage scoring system they’re using now (which I outlined above).

Larry King has some of the contestants & judges on his show this evening. First show’s over but you can tape the repeat…

For those of us without cable – anything interesting?

Missed the question until just now. Nothing out of the ordinary to miss. Larry tried to get the couples to 'fess up to behind-the-scenes hanky-panky with zero success. Joey’s happily married, Laila is engaged, and I suspect Apolo might not really want a gf.

Everybody said nice things about everybody else, as always. The DWTS Cardio and Dance by Len Goodman videos were mentioned. Same ol’ DWTS love-fest. One caller took Len to task for ‘always giving Apolo bad marks’. Len said it was a ridiculous remark and that he didn’t want to see people dancing with chairs.

Just checked the TV listings – one-hour show tonight (8-9, ET), and two-hour finale tomorrow (9-11, ET).

I’m psyched!

I don’t watch the show
but when I catch a dance
it’s always easy to guess which one’s the dancer

I’m not voting tonight, because I honestly can’t decide who to vote for. Agree that Laila would have been better served by a more elegant freestyle, but loved their paso doble; wasn’t as knocked out by Apolo’s freestyle as the judges were, but agree that his cha-cha wasn’t too great; and loved Joey’s freestyle, which was a hoot – but his personality is starting to get on my nerves.

I’m totally okay with any of them winning, I truly am. What an excellent final three!

Apolo & Julianne blew the other two away. As Carrie Ann said, WOOHOO!"
**Joey & Kym’s ** energy blew them past Laila.
**Laila and Maks ** blew it with that last number. It looked a little amateurish to me. (Did they learn nothing from that long-legged wrestling chick from S2?) And her ripping Maks’ shirt off? YAWN.

I agree with Lisa. My biggest issue with Leila and Maks are that they have no chemistry, and actually seem to have antipathy toward one another. It’s Maks’ fault, IMHO. Apolo has won it for me.

Also, from the ABC site, here’s how the scoring is going to work:

FINALE SCORING:

For the finals on Monday night, the remaining three couples will all dance twice: a freesytle and a “Judges Pick.” As usual, they will be scored out of 30 points a dance, for a possible total of 60 points. This is also the last opportunity for the viewers to vote for their favorites.

On Tuesday night, the final three will dance once more, this time repeating their favorite performance from the season. The judges will score this last dance, which will be added to each couple’s total from Monday night. After all three dances from Monday and Tuesday, the couples will have a final judges’ score out of a possible 90 points.

Each couple’s score from the judges will be calculated into a percentage reflecting their share of the total number of points awarded on both Monday and Tuesday’s shows.

The total number of audience votes each couple receives will also be calculated into a percentage reflecting their share of the total number of votes cast after Monday’s performances.

These two shares are then added together to give each couple their final total and ranking.

I agree with PunditLisa. The Michael Jackson stuff was a bit silly and awkward and, well, reminds one of Michael Jackson.

The judges’ holding Apolo to a higher standard has grown tiresome.

I think Apolo and Julianne are a bit better, but I’d be happy with either them or Joey and Kym winning.

I just watched apolo do the rumba
he just had a few straight poses
stiff

joey is a much better dancer

Wow, what a letdown. Although in the main I agreed with the judges’ remarks, I didn’t see any dances up to the standard set last week, and right now, I thought all three couples were pretty much evenly mediocre.

Just about everything except Laila’s Paso Doble seemed a bit off one way or another. Apolo’s cha-cha seemed a poorly-controlled mess, the freestyle likewise (and cute as Julianne is, seeing her do hip-hop was bit like the Prom Queen trying to hang with the homies), both of Joey’s dances were over the top, even for him, and Laila’s freestyle was, shirt-ripping or not, unimaginative and bland.

So, there’s one more dance to go tomorrow night, but I’ll make my guess prediction now: Apolo and Julianne. Laila’s gonna squeak in second and Joey, who is my personal pick but has clearly worn out his welcome, third.

Of course, I’ll probably be completely wrong.

Laila & Maks weren’t with the other two couples. I think they do have chemistry, but she just didn’t look that good tonight. (Her feet really, really bother me. Point!)

I think Apolo & Julianne got screwed by the rumba music from hell - (you can’t make “Last Train to Georgia” romantic when it’s played at that speed. better than “Imagine” but still, bad, bad rumba music). I didn’t like their freestyle that much.

Joey & Kym - I liked their Chacha but as it was happening, I could tell that the judges wouldn’t. Loved their freestyle, from Joey jumping over her head all the way through the end. Loved their freestyle.

Last year, didn’t they do something where the couples all had to dance to the same song? I liked that. I hope they do that tomorrow for the final “judge only dance”

I wonder who does pick the music? I know it’s not the dancers or the contestants. Is it Harold Wheeler? The judges? It’s unfair to judge a dance as “too fast” when they don’t get to pick the music or the tempo. If they didn’t dance to the song, they’d look even more awkward.

Honestly, I don’t remember the tempo of “Midnight Train to Georgia” being that different than what they played last night. I wouldn’t have chosen it to see them dance to it, but I thought they did a fine job. Julianne seems to do a really good job with choreography based on what she is given, even if Len doesn’t like it much.

For example, I thought she had some really great and inventive stuff in the dance they did to Jesse’s Girl, even if it wasn’t all that tango-ey.

Agree – last week was so amazing that this week was almost predictably blah.

The final dance tonight will be a repeat of each couple’s favorite from the season – any guesses as to which dance each couple will do? Will they be better off repeating something from early in the season, and showing how much better they can do it now, or doing something more recent that has proven to score well with the judges?

The results show is underway on the East Coast; they just announced the third-place elimination.

Not surprised at all that it was Laila – and don’t disagree that she doesn’t belong in the final two. God bless her for coming right out and saying “I’m pissed.” She’s been a good competitor throughout – and a hell of an inspiration to us big women everywhwere. Yay her!

And the winner is:

Apollo!
