Dancing with the Stars, Season VI

MEN: Jason, very smooth just not limber enough. Some potential to improve.
Steve, just seems stiff from the waist up. Does it look like he’s wearing a girdle?
Christian, looks sexy but doesn’t dance as good as he looks
Penn, lumbering ox, but lovable and funny
Adam, stiff and awkward, never relaxed into the routine
Mario, very hot, limber, and the chemistry is palpable. Definitely the best man so far.

WOMEN Monica, nervous and scared to death. Won’t be surprised when she leaves.
Priscilla, for 61 not bad. Get past the face and the moves are really pretty good
Marilee, exciting and fun. I love watching her and know she will improve greatly
Marissa, jolly and cute. Has the energy and confidence. Hope she improves with
her moves.
Shannon, beautiful legs but honestly, that’s all I remember about her
Kristi, her experience in the dance elements of skating definitely puts her at an
advantage over her competitors. I think she needs to show more of a connection
with her partner, it’s more of a one woman show at this point.

Steve reminds me of that Seinfeld episode where Jerry got in touch with his feelings. He was lovy dovy to everyone, but he wasn’t funny anymore.

That may be the worst version of “Take On Me” I’ve ever heard. Including a drunken Karaoke Revolution version. Admittedly, I’m not their target audience. I think I might be closer to the age of their target audience’s mothers. But still… still…

I’m surprised - I really thought Penn would outlast Steve…but I guess not.

That’s strange you would say that. I would think that teenyboppers wouldn’t be caught dead watching some “old nobodys” doing ancient dances. I haven’t read anything about the “target” age group, but I would be very surprised if it isn’t
the “mothers” of which I am one.

I like Penn, but not in this context – his mouthing off to the judges indicated a fundamental misunderstanding of the vibe of the show. “Yeah but” is very unattractive during the judges’ remarks – Joey Fatone, who could dance, lost me when he did it once too often.

Bummer about Monica, but it wasn’t undeserved.

I made the comment to my wife that they sounded exactly like what I would expect from some brothers jamming in their garage…

Does the guy that danced with Kristi always look like a male blowup doll with flippy hands when he dances? I can’t watch him because of that.

“Rio”! I love it!

I missed the show. Would someone please spoiler the daylights out of it for me?

Was that Jeff Probst with Tom towards the end of the show?

Yes it was. I have no idea why. Possible “star” for next year? From (gasp) another network?!?

Did anyone else feel that the judges were overly harsh with Marissa? She wasn’t the greatest dancer out there, but a whole lot better and with more energy than at least four others. They soft-pedaled it with all the stiff leftfooters and then came down on her with both feet in spikes. And this was the second time they really reamed her partner. He needs to learn to keep his mouth shut.
Also, I don’t get all the love and alcolades for Priscilla. Talk about no energy or emotion in her dance, just looks like she’s going through the motions, no chemistry with her partner.

My prediction for elimination is either Steve G., or Adam. Both were pretty bad.

I think it was just a bit o’ schtick. I definitely did a double-take, though.

And agree with rpc that they were way too hard on Marissa.

I was impressed with Shannon Elizabeth, who’s improved significantly each week.

Lots of “meh” this week, though.

I think Marissa may get the walking papers tonight. As she gets more desperate she becomes less charming, and I don’t think she has the fan base to rescue her from a mediocre performance/score. If she survives, Shannon or Cristian may feel the sting of the lack of fans. That’s really about all it comes down to early on.

Hers felt kind of slow. Obviously, they worked hard on it all week long, and after the dance you could tell that she was worn out… but during the dance, it didn’t look effortless, it looked kind of plodding and energyless. I have always thought that would be a fun song to swing dance to, maybe it was just the way that the band played it.

I think the judges are trying to push Marisa - and I don’t think that’s the way to best push her.

The tango is the only dance that suits Priscilla’s immobile face. I was disappointed in Marissa - I thought her footwork was sloppy and the performance lacked the only positive thing she normally brings to the dance floor - enthusiasm. And her whining afterward made me want to slap her. She’s not a kid, she needs to grow up and take criticism with some grace. Steve was better, but not a dancer by any means. Shannon didn’t impress me much - it wasn’t enough to take me away from my freecell game. I thought Christian and Mario and the football player were sort of “meh”. Marlee was okay, but she did have problems with the timing when she wasn’t in hold with her partner. I did like Adam’s like about learning about an Argentinian prostitute from a 19 year old Mormen was funny.

For whatever reason, none of the dances wowed me last night. I usually love a bright, fast Jive, but they weren’t Jive-y enough.

StG

Loved the April Fool’s joke last night – they did it well, the first couple I was saying “okay, weird, but not implausible…” Funny shit.

Me too! I kind of wondered how Marlee could be a cop, since she can’t hear the radio and all … by the third person, I finally got it. :smack:

And I am not at all surprised/upset to see The Gutt gone.

Heh. Carrie Ann saying that Priscilla doesn’t react facially when there’s a problem – ya think!?!?!?!?

Oh I know - cracked me up!

And then 10s were liberally applied last night. I am very impressed with this season’s dancers, overall. Some of these people need to rethink their careers!

Since Jason and Edyta were practically makin’ it on the dance floor last night, I can’t imagine what their rhumba will look like.

I was very happy to see Marissa in a mood other than “spastic cheerleader wannabe on crack” last night. Her body type is just so far from the typical ballroom dancer that it’s almost amusing. But she works what she’s been given very well. However, the hair and makeup people need to do her justice. Has she had more than one hairstyle this season? And the stark black eyes with blazing red lips is not a good look for her. She looked really old and tired last night.
