The papers have been full here lately of letters and guest columns and what-not from members of the city council and the county board of supervisors about their anti-terrorism resolutions. Both bodies condemned the attacks but the city council got bogged down over including the word “prayers” in the resolution, and apparently one of the younger board supervisors tried to offer up some historical perspective which the resident crusty conservative didn’t care for.
Excuse me, but why the fuck are you wasting your time and my money with this shit? Was there some concern that someone somewhere might believe that Madison or Dane County might be in favor of flying planes into skyscrapers? Ooh, that Osama bin Laden’s on the run now, what with the full force of both the Madison City Council and the Dane County Board of Supervisors on his ass!
