More meta: We have four days to talk shop. Shouldn’t we use them wisely?
More fluff:I miss the summer…
Talking shop? Sure. Lurking is bad. People who have been warned not to lurk and say they won’t lurk and then lurk anyway are very suspect.
Exactly! Lurk lurk lurka lurka lurk! No suspect, suspect no?
Anyone other than me and Prof. having any thoughts about this?
And actual content matters more than number of posts. It goes without saying, but there it is.
Agreed. Quantity is a rough cut, quality matters. Two posts with two minor ideas don’t weigh more than a through discussion in a single post. The count shows that discussion was dominated by Prof P. and Astral, which is more or less what it felt like. That is to day, the content matched up with quantity.
This’ll be my last substantive post for a couple days, but I should see you at sunrise. (At least, I don’t think I’m on the scum’s hit list.)
It bugs me that we’ve got a couple of players who have excuses for lurking. On the one hand, those excuses seem perfectly reasonable, and I don’t want to be a jerk about it. On the other hand, there’s a decent chance at least one of them happens to be Scum, and it would kind of mess up the game if that were the case. We would have no way to catch them.
Please, I do hope you’ll show up here during the night too. Lots of fun to be had.
Excuses or not, that would be the case anyway. That’s why “lynch the lurker” isn’t foolproof. It’s not even close to fool proof. It’s one of those things you just have to accept and make the best of. We will catch scum, one way or another, or we’ll die.
In the game I played and in the several games I’ve watched, “lynch the lurker” worked a whole lot better than “lynch the loud”, but was seldom applied.
That is true. Lynch the loud is just as sketchy, but a lot more applied. In an ideal situation, none of this would matter, but they do. Now we have the potential to stretch that to the night!
So at night we’re not allowed to talk strategy or make accusations or anything, right? That’s going to seriously limit my posting.
If I can talk in general terms - the vote order matters to me a lot more than who someone voted for. I’ll explain what I’m thinking in more detail when I can start talking naming players and making arguments.
We are! We are allowed to talk strategy at night! As long we don’t accuse anyone directly, or vote, we can dicuss all night long, baby.
On a totally unrelated note - the click-bait pictures at the bottom of our threads.
Why is it, the ones I really want to click on because the pictures look, um, interesting, for lack of a better word, why are they only showing up on my computer at work? I’m very hesitant to click on them here at my desk. But when I get home and look on the threads on my phone and can click all I want, the fun picture click baits are not there. All I see at home are the boring ones about saving money and deaging processes.
Not fair man!!
Not fair? Allowed or not?
Interesting thought, and one I have considered myself, Mosier.
I don’t want to run afoul of the rules at Night, but have a few more detailed comments to post next Day, as has been asked of me. I’m still trying to find the balance between being accused of lurking, and of posting meaningful commentary. I think I sometimes come across as a bit opaque, sorry…
Most of the time those pictures are referencing something your server has already looked at. I get stuff that Madame P. looked at, and sometimes stuff I looked at that nobody else in the world would want to. Since your server at work is probably accessed by other people, it’s fair to say someone at sometime looked at such items.
And they didn’t invite me to look? Bastards.
I’ve been wondering who else is in the game… Axel Foley? Tango & Cash? Rambo? Action Jackson? Idle speculation for now.
