Dante's Action Hero Mafia

Yes, I agree, Prof. P.

I also agree with Mahaloth that we bagged one, finally.
I asked a ways back about everyone listing the remaining players and their thoughts about them. That request still stands.

My thoughts have already changed two or three times based on the very fluid environment we find ourselves in right now, but that’s just me, I guess.

Astral attacked me, but seems to be Town. Really not sure.

Hooker I’m not sure about. What makes you peg him Town, Prof?

The role claims appear to be legit. But that doesn’t mean anything, as we all know.

Prof. P seems once again to be the voice of reason.
That said, I did not expect to see Sario withdraw without a fight, but then again, this game would be best described by me as “mercurial”.

Our gracious Mod would apparently have our game be an enigma wrapped in a riddle surrounded by an inferno…
(I kid, Dante, I kid…)
We have until tomorrow 3 PM EST to sort out our next lynch before the next NK. (right?)

Looks like we may have caught a break, in a small way anyway, again.

Before we can’t talk anymore, and assuming that Sario is indeed scum for dropping out, let’s make a move. I’m not sure how often someone drops out in this fashion, but we have a small window to plan before the next Day.
I’ll try to be on late morning EST before the Mod post, if I can.

Good luck, everyone…

Fair point and a good one. It’s a shot in the dark from my perspective.

Note: I am on a temporary work around at work to access the site. I will not be around until evening(eastern usa time).

Frank, Jack and Marty need your help!

See, the thing about claiming a movie name role toDay is:

the only real advantage Scum has is they know who they are and who we are. The one thing they don’t know at this point is the last Town movie name.

IF the last true Townsperson reveals his name BEFORE 3 p.m., then, when our Narrator reveals the name in the Night post (which he is practically bound to do by the tenets of literary consistency), then we will know.

IF Scum attempt to get lucky and guess a name BEFORE 3 p.m., well, good luck with that.

I’m not sure I understand what you’re saying, Prof P. Are you saying the narrator will win our game for us by mod-confirming the “last” town name?

Look, every single time we’ve had a narrative interlude we have gained at least one movie name. In the interest of artistic integrity, he should give us the last name. If we already have it, then we can match.

It’s not like it will hurt the last Town to let us know his movie name at this point. Reluctance to provide it, however, does seem a Scum tell to me.

Also, I really apologize, guys. I thought I’d have time this morning to finish up a post while at work, but I don’t. Dante, I’m okay if you decide to end the day early, in case you were waiting because of my request above.

That would reduce the game to a binary lynch, or instant victory, and I don’t see the narrator doing that to the game.

I also don’t see the harm in claiming though. I’m Jason Bourne.

I’m going to write this up to organize my thoughts.

We have essentially confirmed that there are three scum. That leaves four town. Three town power roles are claimed, leaving one vanilla.

Claimed power roles:
Prof P claiming Frank, the transporter.
Toomba claiming Riggs, the paranoid gun owner.
Mahaloth is Jack Burton, the follower.
There are no counter claims to make me doubt these, and they are consistent with the evidence.

Claimed vanilla town:
Astral claims Jason Bourne.
I’ll add my name to my vanilla claim and state I’m Bryan Mills.

No claim thus far:
sangfroid

Virtual scum lock:
Sario

So what this means is that the last vanilla town (me) knows who each of the scum are (Astral, Sario, and sang. The evidence for me as town is Mosier flipping town. I unvoted late in Day One to take him off the precipice, and there was certainly enough time to get the last vote (and given that Sario and sang were still not voting, it was a good thing). (see also Mosier’s post 293 for his interpretation of the Day One Voting) That unvote was absolutely a townie move to make. Astral tried to talk me back into it (post 155).

Wow. Bryan Mills? I certainly got off easy last Night when I transported you, 'cause I know how dangerous you are when you are Taken.

The other Town thing Hooker did that comes to mind is this: when Mosier stated uncategorically that he new Hooker was Town, and that if he (Mosier) was Town, then Hooker had to be, then at that point Hooker did not take refuge in that, but stated that this was not necessarily the case and that he could be Scum. Refusing the protection of someone you believe to be Town is, in itself, a Town tell.

Nearly 1 p.m., and no claim from Keyser Söze, er, Hans Gruber, er, sangfroid.

I don’t know who you are. I don’t know what you want. If you are looking for ransom, I can tell you I don’t have money. But what I do have are a very particular set of skills; skills I have acquired over a very long career. Skills that won’t keep the scum up at night. Mostly arts and crafts. I also play a mean game of tiddly winks.

Here I am going to not take refuge in again. I agree that it’s a townie thing to do, but it’s pretty easy for scum to play it that way for townie points. I’d put more stock in the unvote if I were in your position, but I’m glad you’re seeing multiple data points to make a bigger picture. I’m working on a post reviewing Astral’s posts, but I won’t be able to get it posted today. That said, I think it’s likely that I’ll be around in the morning as I’m the least appealing target for the scum given three power claims.

I’m getting ready to get the car out of the garage. I think I’ll take sangfroid for a drive tonight.

Err…maybe I don’t get your ability, but would that prevent the night kill?

Day 3 - New York City
It was late in the morning when Theo had stepped out of the small electronics shop downtown. Walking down the sidewalk, he checked his bag again to make sure he had all the correct purchases he would need. As he continued up the street, his phone rang. In the distance he could hear sirens blaring from an ambulance.

“Yeah, Hans, what’s up?” he asked into the phone. "Yeah … yeah, I got them all right here … Of course it’ll be enough. Come on Hans, you didn’t hire me for my stunning good likes, right? … Right … Listen, I can barely hear you anymore … hold on, I’m gonna cross - "

He stepped off the curb, not paying attention, and was immediately struck down by the speeding ambulance. The impact knocked him off his feet and he landed in a brutal, bloody heap just inside the intersection.

Sario is dead. He was Theo (Die Hard) / Scum aligned** Roleblocker**

In the police precinct, there was a somber feeling in the air as the officers and staff mourned the loss of one of their own. Walter Cobb was on his phone talking to the Commissioner.

“Yes sir,” said Cobb. “No, we don’t have many leads just yet. Forensics found one shell casing at the scene. A 19mm round … Exactly. Not a very uncommon one … yes, I’ve already been to see his family … Yes, thank you … I appreciate it, sir. Good bye.”

He sat back down in his chair and opened up the personnel file on his desk. He had gotten word from Washington that a former CIA agent had recently moved to New York. Cobb flipped through the documents, his eyes widened as he read the files.

“Jesus, this is impressive.”

It is now Night 3. Please send in your abilities if you have any. **The Night will end on Wednesday at 3pm EDT.
**

Play on, players!

Jeez, traffic in this town is murder.

And THAT, ladies and gentlemen, is how to leave the game.

Haha that was awesome, Sario. This wouldn’t be an action movie without the one-liners. Dante, still loving the color!

Thank you very much. I’ve enjoyed writing it. It’s always interesting trying to come up with ways to interpret what the players do at night and put that into the context of the story.
