Dark meat is obviously the only meat on a turkey worth eating, but I wonder what others think.
Dark meat all the way. But I’m quite happy that white meat tends to be the “popular” option - just means more delicious dark meat for me!
White for sandwiches. Both for soup, curry, etc.
White, please.
Absolutely nothing finer than Turkey breast meat.
A mixture. Ebony and ivory live together in perfect harmony.
Dark. Organ meat is the best, but thighs are a very close second.
This goes for poultry in general, in fact, and likely for lizards as well.
And skin … dark meat and skin.
My brother doesn’t like the skin, so I get his. We will part out the turkey as soon as it finishes standing, so it is all nicely arranged on the platter so we in the kitchen get our pick of the skin and certain little special nuggets of meat off the carcass before we toss the carcass in the pot to simmer into stock while we eat.
Our family has always carved the bird in the kitchen so we can bring out completed serving dishes of food. Makes clean up easier as we tend to wash up as we go so we can all enjoy a relaxing evening without worrying about a huge pile of dishes in the kitchen. Buffet style is definitely the way to go. Toss everything out at once and let the ravening horde chow down.
Dark meat. It has some flavor and is more likely to be moist, whereas white meat is blah and apt to be dry as dust.
white meat. this is an amurrrrican holiday and it’s all about excess. white meat can be carved into poultry steaks! 8 oz of bird ready to be cut into. who’s got time to fiddle with BONES?
Oh yes, what a happy state of affairs, especially since dark meat is cheaper. Let the white meat people happily pay extra for their dry, bland meat. I’ll continue to happily pay less for the juicy, delicious dark meat.
You can buy a whole white-meat turkey? I would pay extra for that, but I’ve never seen one.
Can’t believe I have to worry about a child dying!!! (You must pick one or a CHILD WILL DIE!!!) I like both!
Is there white meat in a child?
dark meat for soup and sandwiches. white meat for plated dinner with all the trimmings.
Definitely dark.
So far, a perfect 30/30 split. I usually get a mix of dark and white, favoring the dark. Obviously white meat has its uses, and my leftover turkey sandwiches are either all white meat or mostly white.
You can buy a turkey breast, and you will pay extra for it. It won’t make drippings that are as rich in flavor as the whole bird, though.
Personally, I prefer white meat, if it’s roasted, but dark meat if it’s smoked.
The cats have not indicated a preference, other than “want MORE”.
I’ve started eating quite a lot of ground turkey, rather than ground beef, as it doesn’t seem to upset my IBS as frequently. I can panfry turkey patties with some poultry seasoning, and they’re good, or I can make turkey loaf, and it’s good. As long as you treat it like poultry and don’t expect it to taste like beef, it’s really pretty tasty.
White all the way. Dark is just nasty, though the pets do enjoy it. If you find white too dry, that’s why God invented gravy.
Yet another thread with a deceptive title. I could make a whole thread about them.
I didn’t know which parts were white and which parts were dark until I got married. I could still care less. If it’s on my plate I’ll eat it.
