Dark meat or White meat?

What about the turkey skin? Back in my meat-eating days, if you left me alone with a fully cooked, fresh-out-of-the-oven turkey for five minutes, when you got back that bird wold be nekkid!

Oh yeah? So what are those…things…running through wings and legs?

I guess I love both because I love the drumstick but also love sliced white meat. Not such a big fan of turkey thigh meat.

For chicken I definitely prefer dark meat since chicken thighs are awesome.

Dark to eat with dinner. Breast for the turkey salad sandwiches later.

Both please!

I prefer dark meat on a Turkey, white meat on a chicken. Since it is turkey season, I answered dark meat.

White.

People actually prefer dark?

That’s the part you throw away, or turn into enchiladas!

I’m only a breast man within my own species. If it originally had feathers on it, I’ll take a thigh.

It’s interesting that the poll is in favor of dark meat by a reasonable margin, but industry is doing everything it can to make more and more white meat.

Dark meat is definetly the way to go…I think it’s the texture of white meat that I don’t like.

While I’ve got you here…
Any ideas why some Asian dishes, like sweet & sour chicken use breast meat, and, for example, orange chicken uses thighs?

The only time I’ve liked turkey breast is the year that we cured and charcoal smoked the turkey.

So surprised to see fellow dark meat lovers.
I like both, but love the dark.

“Or”?

THIS!

no “both” on the poll?

Dark meat tastes a bit deeper and richer; Light meat is better for sandwiches, “salad” (turkey or chicken).

I eat both, happily.

My mom won’t touch dark meat of any kind. Of course, she also ordered a “WELL-DONE!” steak the last time we were at Morton’s so you can just assume she’s basically a barbarian ;D

Both is not a useful option in these battles. You must choose between them or I kill the puppies.

How? Do they make the turkeys do isometrics?

Actually, more exercise leads to more dark meat. Domestic turkeys and chickens have white meat only because their large flight muscles are never exercised by actual flight. Wild game birds that fly are actually all dark meat.

Also, I’m sure they use selective breeding.
