Geez - if we had known, we would have invited you all for the past decade - we only eat the white meat and used the dark meat (if at all) to boil for broth - otherwise, tossed the dark meat out.
We actually bought the white meat only version this year - dubious, but friends and family swear by it and say it’s great - so will see if it was worth the price (about $9 for a 3 pound breast).
White! For me, the “flavor” in dark meat that everyone keeps telling me about is a bad flavor (I also hate organs/blood). But, my SO loves the dark, so we get to eat all birds in perfect harmony.
The fact that dark meat is so far ahead here but not with the population at large must mean something.
Oh, Happy Thanksgiving everyone!
I don’t particularly care too much one way or the other, but I always take dark since everyone else in the family likes white - might as well let them have it since I like the other just as well.
I’m not really sure what I’d pick if I had a turkey all to myself. Probably dark out of habit.
Bone; all bone and only bone. Can’t get enough of that calcified white meat.
White meat.
Until I tried a deep fried turkey a couple of years ago, I’d have picked dark meat. My brother deep fries turkey for Thangsgiving and Christmas and now the white meat is just as juicy and delicious as the dark meat. So, today I’d have to say: both!
